Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Barrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuuchi Tayzanaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barrera's entrance music is Right Now (Korn). A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Barrera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryuuchi Tayzanaki! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.

Tayzanaki darts in and clinches Barrera up against the cage. Barrera using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tayzanaki has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Barrera tries to land a knee to the head but Tayzanaki blocks with his arms.
Barrera tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tayzanaki just stands there and leans against the cage.
Barrera manages to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tayzanaki wants to control from the top but Barrera keeps moving. Barrera utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barrera might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Tayzanaki slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Tayzanaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Let's hope that Tayzanaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Tayzanaki content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Tayzanaki is trying to control. Barrera wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Tayzanaki fails with a takedown attempt. Barrera keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jose Barrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryuuchi Tayzanaki. Barrera doesn't manage to clinch there - Tayzanaki circles away.
Barrera has closed the distance and engaged Tayzanaki in a clinch.

Barrera shoots in and bounces Tayzanaki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Barrera stopping the sweep attempt from Tayzanaki. Barrera won't allow Tayzanaki to get back to his feet. Barrera is in close to Tayzanaki's body, working some short punches and elbows. Barrera is looking to work some ground and pound but Tayzanaki has wrist control. Barrera working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tayzanaki's head. Barrera is looking to stand up but Tayzanaki won't let him. Tayzanaki pulls Barrera in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryuuchi Tayzanaki dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Tayzanaki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barrera was covering up waiting for the punch and Tayzanaki finishes the takedown easily into guard. Tayzanaki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Tayzanaki is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tayzanaki is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Barrera working for a triangle but Tayzanaki defends it easily.

Barrera is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tayzanaki gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Barrera tries to score a body lock takedown but Tayzanaki shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Tayzanaki tries for a takedown but Barrera manages to get underhooks.
Barrera tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tayzanaki just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Barrera. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tayzanaki jumps guard but Barrera stands there with Tayzanaki around his waist. Tayzanaki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Tayzanaki forces Barrera back against the cage and clinches. Barrera tries to land knees in the clinch but Tayzanaki avoids the damage to the body. Tayzanaki with a knee to the head.
Tayzanaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Tayzanaki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Tayzanaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Tayzanaki is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Barrera. Barrera circles away from the clinch attempt.

Barrera lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Barrera lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Tayzanaki trying to hold on to Barrera's head to control him but Barrera postures up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryuuchi Tayzanaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Tayzanaki moves into the clinch. Barrera is trying to drag Tayzanaki to the mat but Tayzanaki just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Tayzanaki unloads a knee to the mid-section. Barrera takes an elbow to the forehead. Barrera tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tayzanaki smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Barrera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barrera closes the distance and clinches. Tayzanaki lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Tayzanaki looking for a takedown. Tayzanaki blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Tayzanaki can't get the takedown.

Tayzanaki scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Tayzanaki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Barrera wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Tayzanaki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Barrera has control of Tayzanaki's left arm, preventing Tayzanaki from doing any damage. Tayzanaki trying to control the position from guard on top but Barrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Barrera throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Barrera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tayzanaki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Barrera keeping moving, preventing Tayzanaki from controlling successfully. Tayzanaki won't allow Barrera to get back to his feet. Jose Barrera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
