Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Caceres! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richter Alastrasz! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caceres lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alastrasz circles away quickly and effectively. Alastrasz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Caceres has his hands clasped together around Alastrasz's back. He's all about the action. Caceres keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Alastrasz working the head and body with strikes. Alastrasz throwing shots but Caceres is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alastrasz slips a nice elbow through Caceres's hands, connecting with Caceres's forehead. Alastrasz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Nice strikes from Alastrasz there. Alastrasz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Caceres trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caceres blocking the ground and pound attempt from Alastrasz. Caceres trying to hold on to Alastrasz's head to control him but Alastrasz postures up.
Alastrasz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Caceres knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Caceres keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Caceres misses with a takedown attempt so Alastrasz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Alastrasz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alastrasz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alastrasz's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Alastrasz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alastrasz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alastrasz throwing strikes but missing. Alastrasz throwing strikes from guard but Caceres blocks nicely. Caceres is controlling Alastrasz's posture. Alastrasz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Alastrasz lands a couple of elbows. Caceres is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alastrasz is in close to Caceres's body, working some short punches and elbows. Caceres is pulling down on Alastrasz's head. It's preventing any offense from Alastrasz, at least for the moment. Alastrasz advances position into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alastrasz working the ground and pound. Caceres is looking for a sweep. Caceres can't do much from the bottom here. Alastrasz lands a decent elbow from side control. Alastrasz has knee on belly and moves into mount. Alastrasz landing shots from mount. Caceres is breathing heavily. Caceres flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Caceres tries to lock up and control but Alastrasz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. BOOM! Alastrasz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Alastrasz connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Caceres is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alastrasz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Caceres is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alastrasz looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Caceres covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
