PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Dourado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buford Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dourado might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Renegades of Funk. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcelo Dourado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buford Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dourado wants to clinch up but Griffin keeps it at a distance.

Griffin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dourado's half guard.
Griffin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Griffin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura but Dourado is defending well.
Griffin is looking to stall here but Dourado recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griffin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dourado kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Griffin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dourado swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dourado tries to bum rush Griffin with a series of wild strikes but Griffin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Griffin shoots in but no luck this time.
Griffin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Buford Griffin has been cut.

Griffin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dourado looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dourado is trying to get back to half guard.

Griffin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Griffin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dourado is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Griffin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Griffin wants to take a breather but Dourado is having none of it.
Dourado knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Griffin on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dourado is looking to clinch but Griffin is avoiding it.
Dourado keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Dourado is pressed up against the cage. Griffin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dourado down to the mat. Dourado avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Dourado shows good takedown defense.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Griffin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Griffin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dourado swivels and escapes.

No joy there for Dourado, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Griffin tries to free his leg and advance position but Dourado is retaining full guard.
Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dourado wants to stand but Griffin is controlling the position.

Griffin has gone for a leg lock! Dourado slips out almost immediately though and dives into Griffin's guard.

Dourado is looking to work some ground and pound but Griffin has wrist control.

Griffin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dourado was covering up waiting for the punch and Griffin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

I've got Griffin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
