Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Oconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oconnell throws a series of punches but Torres moves out of range. Torres avoids the head kick by Oconnell.
Oconnell throws out a leg kick but Torres moves out of range and Oconnell only half commits. Oconnell misses with a series of wild punches.

Jake Oconnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oconnell misses with a few strikes there.
Oconnell tried to score with a low kick but Torres checks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oconnell looks to land a combination but Torres avoids it well. No luck for Torres with that takedown attempt. Oconnell misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oconnell throws a right hand that Torres ducks under and follows up with a left that Torres also avoids with ease. Oconnell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
No joy there for Oconnell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Oconnell throws a nice looking combination but Torres bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Torres is trying hard to land a takedown here. Oconnell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Oconnell throws a right and a left that Torres avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Oconnell misses with a two punch combination.
Oconnell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Oconnell throws a looping overhand right but Torres ducks down to avoid it. Oconnell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Oconnell throws a right hand that Torres ducks under and follows up with a left that Torres also avoids with ease. Torres shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Oconnell sprawls well. Oconnell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Torres gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Torres. That's going to take a lot out of him. A head kick misses from Oconnell.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oconnell tries to land a front kick but Torres steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A combination from Oconnell does no damage. Jake Oconnell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Torres fails with a takedown attempt. Oconnell looks to score with a jab to the body but Torres is just out of range. Oconnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Torres showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Oconnell.
Torres shoots in but no luck this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Oconnell is looking to score with low kicks. Oconnell throws a right and a left that Torres avoids nicely. Oconnell should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Oconnell looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Torres takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Nice sprawl there from Oconnell as Torres shoots in. Torres showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Oconnell.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Oconnell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Jake Oconnell dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Torres shoots in for a takedown but Oconnell shows good takedown defense. Oconnell swinging wilding here.
Oconnell throws a right hand that Torres ducks under and follows up with a left that Torres also avoids with ease. Oconnell wants to land a leg kick but Torres is out of range. Josh Torres is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice defenses there by Torres. Oconnell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oconnell goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Oconnell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Torres moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Oconnell gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Torres is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Torres drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Torres jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Oconnell wants to stand and escape but Torres is having none of it. Torres postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Oconnell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Torres, into his guard. Oconnell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Torres is proving hard to escape from. Oconnell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Torres is keeping the position for now. Torres is looking for a triangle but Oconnell pushes his legs off easily.
Oconnell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oconnell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Oconnell looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Torres has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Oconnell should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Torres has tightened it up now! Oconnell should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
