Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, steven maxwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Bain!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
maxwell takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
maxwell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bain.

Bain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bain gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Bain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bain.
Bain tries to work over maxwell's front leg with a kick but maxwell checks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

maxwell shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
maxwell tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bain keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Bain looks gassed!

Bain tries to hold on but maxwell pushes him away.
Bain is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
maxwell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Bain tries to reverse the position but maxwell maintains control.

Bain tries to hold on but maxwell pushes him away.
maxwell tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bain gets back to half guard.
Bain regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
maxwell content to stall in guard here.
Bain pulls maxwell in close to prevent any damage.
Bain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bain being controlled here, momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Bain dominated that round.
That's time! maxwell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bain shoots and misses

and maxwell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bain won't be happy with that.
maxwell content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bain tries to improve position but can't.
Bain is breathing heavily.
Bain is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Bain is trying to control maxwell's posture but maxwell avoids it.

Bain is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but maxwell is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Bain is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
maxwell controlling from mount.
maxwell avoids the attempt from Bain to control.
maxwell controlling from the full mount.
Bain is looking to improve his position but maxwell isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
maxwell looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bain is looking to get to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bain sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Bain throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
maxwell blocks a head kick by Bain.
Bain shoots and misses

and maxwell counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bain is trying to maintain the position but maxwell is very close to passing his half guard.
Bain is looking to escape.
maxwell uses his free foot to push down on Bain's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bain.
maxwell avoids the attempt from Bain to control.
Bain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

maxwell tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bain tries to hold on but maxwell pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bain is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but maxwell is staying active.
Bain regains half guard.
steven maxwell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
maxwell is controlling the pace.
Bain trying to control but maxwell postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bain tries to roll over but maxwell keeps him under control.

maxwell moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Bain.
Bain pushes maxwell away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, maxwell gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bain tries to bench press maxwell off him but maxwell keeps the position.
Bain wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Bain is looking to regain half guard here but maxwell keeps moving and retains side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
steven maxwell showed his dominance in that final round.
I think maxwell has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
