Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryce Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank mir will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryce Hammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank mir!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hammond scores with a takedown into mir's guard.
mir trying to keep a closed guard but Hammond is proving a slippery customer.
Hammond wants to stand but mir is controlling his posture from full guard.
mir controls Hammond momentarily but Hammond frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hammond gets to his feet. mir looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hammond gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hammond manages to pull guard.
mir won't allow Hammond to sweep him here.
Hammond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
mir is stalling in the full guard.
I looks like mir might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hammond wants to stand but mir is controlling the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammond can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as mir controls the pace.
mir pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hammond is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hammond pushes mir up against the cage in a clinch.
Hammond is trying to work for a single leg takedown but mir pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hammond jumps guard and drags mir to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hammond controls mir momentarily but mir frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammond pushes mir off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Hammond closes the distance and clinches.
Hammond makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hammond lands a body shot.
Hammond is trying to force a seperation but mir has the dominant position.

Hammond breaks from the clinch.
Hammond throws a series of punches but mir avoids them all with ease.
Bryce Hammond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
mir slips a jab from Hammond.
A big left from Hammond misses.
Hammond shoots in for a takedown but mir shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hammond scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


It looks like Frank mir has been cut.
mir tries for a takedown but Hammond sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck for Hammond with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryce Hammond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hammond fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hammond swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hammond gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and mir counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hammond!
mir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hammond trying desperately to get to his feet.

Hammond is looking to improve his position but mir isn't that keen on the idea.
mir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hammond is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hammond keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryce Hammond dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Frank mir's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


mir fails with the takedown
and Hammond counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hammond throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and mir counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Hammond holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Hammond wants to get back to his feet.
Hammond is looking to control mir's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hammond avoid being mounted?
mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hammond is looking for a sweep. mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
mir is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hammond is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hammond is trying is best to control the position here.
Hammond pushes mir off looking to stand but mir dives back in and keeps control.
Hammond tries to roll over but mir keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
mir checks a leg kick.
mir uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hammond.

Hammond closes the distance and pushes mir back into the cage.
Frank mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hammond gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Hammond is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bryce Hammond is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

mir has a closed guard, preventing Hammond from standing up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bryce Hammond showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hammond has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
