Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Kraven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by They Will Kill Us All - The Bronx. Kraven has chosen Back in Black as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Kraven! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kraven throws a wild body kick that Brown sees coming a mile off. Kraven is looking to clinch but Brown is avoiding it.
Kraven fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kraven drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kraven decides to stand back up. Kraven tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice shot by Brown. Brown throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kraven looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Brown working for a triangle but Kraven defends it easily.
Brown on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brown tries to get out of the position. Kraven trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kraven in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kraven trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kraven wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Brown lands a slapping body shot.
Kraven rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Brown counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Brown frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kraven looks gassed! Brown looking to control and managing it successfully. Kraven sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown is taking a breather. Kraven says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Kraven is looking to control Brown's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kraven avoid being mounted? Brown with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Kraven is trying to stand up here but Brown is controlling him well. Kraven is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Brown thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Kraven to regain full guard. Brown sitting in guard here, content to control. Kraven is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Brown forces his way into half guard. Brown prevents Kraven from standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kraven won't allow Brown to pass to mount. Kraven is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brown's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brown's back! Kraven trying to control. Brown tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Kraven is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Brown can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kraven can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape. Kraven lands a big shot there that rocks Brown but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Brown knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kraven on the ground. Brown is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kraven might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brown kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Brown tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kraven wants to control the pace but Brown is squirming around nicely. Kraven misses with a head shot. Kraven looking to ground and pound but Brown is blocking nicely. Kraven avoids the attempt from Brown to control. Brown defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kraven. Brown is working to get back to half guard.
Brown is working hard here to advance position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Matthew Brown will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Kraven doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brown counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kraven's guard now. Brown controlling from the top position. Kraven is looking to stand up but Brown isn't so interested in that idea. Kraven is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Brown slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Kraven is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown postures up.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kraven swivels though and keeps the full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Brown looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Brown controls from within his opponent's guard.

Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Kraven is retaining full guard. Brown not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Brown avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kraven wants to sweep here but Brown controlling him for the moment. Kraven wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Kraven wants to stand up but Brown is controlling him. Brown is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brown postures up.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kraven swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kraven wants to control but Brown is keeping busy and won't allow it. Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Matthew Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Brown prevents Kraven from improving his position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brown in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kraven gets full guard. Kraven is trying to control the position but Brown postures up. Brown stays in close to Kraven's body and controls the position. Kraven keeping full guard, as Brown tries to pass. Kraven bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard. Brown looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kraven passes into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Brown is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kraven wants to stand but Brown is controlling his arm. Brown wants to get back to his feet but Kraven drags him back down. Brown tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kraven wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Brown sneaks back into half guard. Brown is trying to get back to full guard. Kraven wants to take a breather but Brown is having none of it. Kraven is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kraven with a lazy takedown attempt and Brown counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kraven is pressing down on Brown's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Kraven has his foot on Brown's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brown works his way back into a safe position though. Brown trying to control but Kraven is working from the bottom. Brown has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kraven is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kraven looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Brown stays in close to Kraven's body and controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kraven prevents Brown from improving position. Kraven is looking for a sweep. Kraven is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Brown off and has taken his back! Brown tries to roll but Kraven sticks to his back.
Brown has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Brown wants to control his opponent's hands but Kraven gets his hands free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown holding both Kraven 's hands and preventing any damage. Brown staying busy and making it hard for Kraven to control. Kraven punishes Brown with strikes from the back mount. Kraven doesn't have the hooks in and Brown manages to turn into his guard.
Kraven can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brown controls the pace. Kraven keeping full guard, as Brown tries to pass.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kraven is trying to control the position but Brown postures up. Brown prevents Kraven from getting back to his feet. Brown not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
