Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Ballin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinn Ball (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Ballin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quinn Ball!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ballin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ballin lands in his opponent's guard.
Ballin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ballin trying to control the position from guard on top but Ball is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ballin tries to stand but Ball is controlling from the bottom.
Ballin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ball looking to control.
Ballin wants to control from the top but Ball keeps moving.

Ballin stands up and waves to Ball to follow him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ball shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ballin counters with a single leg into guard. Ball didn't expect that.
Ballin controls from within his opponent's guard.

Ballin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ball is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ball has escaped and now he's on top!

Ball drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ball jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ball stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ballin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ballin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ball on the ground.
Ballin has control of Ball's left arm, preventing Ball from doing any damage.

Ball drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ball jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ball has gone for a leg lock! Ballin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ball's guard.
Ballin is breathing heavily.
Ball has a closed guard, preventing Ballin from standing up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ball is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ballin wanted to stand there but Ball had control of the position.
Ball can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ballin controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Ballin dominated that round.
That's time! Ballin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ball is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ballin has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Ballin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ballin is looking to regain half guard here but Ball keeps moving and retains side control.

Ball is trying to get an arm triangle but Ballin is defending well.
Ballin is looking for a sweep.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ball wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ballin, who protects the arm well.

Ball working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ballin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ball's best efforts.
Ballin wants to control but Ball is keeping busy.

Ball seems to be working for a kimura but Ballin defends the submission attempt.

Ballin tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Ball is trying to work for a kimura but Ballin is defending well.

Ball is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ballin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ball.

Ballin is trying to maintain the position but Ball is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ball shoots and misses

and Ballin counters with a takedown into side control.

Ballin stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ballin content to control rather than advance.

Ballin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ball wants to control but Ballin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ball avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ballin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Ballin dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Ballin wants to clinch up but Ball keeps it at a distance.
Ball has his takedown stuffed

so Ballin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ballin postures up in Ball's guard and throws a big left but Ball blocks it.
Ballin looking to sit in guard and control but Ball gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ball drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ball jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ballin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ball defends well.

Ball thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ballin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ballin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Ball is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ball shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ballin counters with a shoot takedown. Ball fights it but they end up in guard.

Ball trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ball keeping moving, preventing Ballin from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ball is on top in guard.

Ball drops back looking for a leg! Ballin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ballin manages to kick Ball off! Ball jumps back into Ballin's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ball drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ballin dives on top into guard.
Ballin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ball's guard.
Ballin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ballin looking to sit in guard and control but Ball gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ballin keeping full guard, as Ball tries to pass.

Ball thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ball postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ballin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ball, into his guard.

Ballin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe Ballin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Ballin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
