PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kona Kamehameha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lambert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamehameha comes into the arena with Everybody Wants to Rule The World blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kona Kamehameha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andrew Lambert!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambert swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lambert swats away the attempt to clinch by Kamehameha.
Andrew Lambert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kamehameha lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Andrew Lambert has been cut.
Kamehameha tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lambert swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kamehameha takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kamehameha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lambert fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lambert throws a jab but it's blocked by Kamehameha.
Lambert misses with a double jab

and Kamehameha counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lambert keeping full guard, as Kamehameha tries to pass.
Lambert is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lambert is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Kamehameha has gone for a leg lock! Lambert slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kamehameha's guard.
Kamehameha is pulling down on Lambert's head. It's preventing any offense from Lambert, at least for the moment.
Lambert must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lambert wants to stand but Kamehameha is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kamehameha is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lambert won't allow Kamehameha to sweep him here.
Lambert wanted to stand there but Kamehameha had control of the position.
Kamehameha wants to sweep here but Lambert controlling him for the moment.
Lambert wants to stand but Kamehameha has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kamehameha is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lambert trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kamehameha's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lambert lands a jab to Kamehameha's midsection.
Andrew Lambert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kamehameha avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kamehameha takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lambert swings for the body but Kamehameha moves out of range.
Lambert throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kamehameha stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lambert throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kamehameha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kamehameha avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kamehameha gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Lambert lands a nice shot that snaps Kamehameha's head back.
Lambert wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lambert misses with an uppercut.
Kamehameha slips a jab from Lambert.
Lambert throws a hook but Kamehameha avoids it easily.
Lambert avoids the body shot from Kamehameha.
Lambert misses with a looping right.
Lambert moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Kona Kamehameha has been cut.
Lambert missing with a left hand there. Kamehameha was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kamehameha drops his hands momentarily and Lambert takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Kamehameha holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kamehameha drags the fight down to the ground.
Kamehameha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kona Kamehameha will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lambert scores with the left hand. Kamehameha knows he should have avoided that one.
Lambert cracks Kamehameha with an open hand slap.
Kamehameha defending well as Lambert loads up on a big left hand.
Kamehameha digs a good body shot into Lambert's ribs.
Kamehameha keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lambert lands with a cross.
Lambert throws a combination that misses
and Kamehameha counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lambert scores with a sloppy right hand. Kamehameha should have avoided that one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lambert falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kamehameha counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lambert!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kamehameha cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lambert in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Kamehameha is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lambert can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lambert is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Kamehameha throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lambert because Kamehameha loaded up on that one.
Lambert's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Kamehameha has hold of Lambert's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lambert manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kamehameha working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Lambert turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Kamehameha off and cradles Lambert's limp body as Kamehameha celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Kona Kamehameha!
