Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Harry Potter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Yannick Riesling! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Riesling drives through with a takedown into guard. Riesling stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Potter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Riesling is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Potter is looking to stand up but Riesling isn't so interested in that idea. Riesling wants to control from the top but Potter keeps moving. Potter working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Riesling. Riesling tries to free his leg and advance position but Potter is retaining full guard. Riesling in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riesling with a flurry of punches that miss. Potter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Riesling trying to control the position from guard on top but Potter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Riesling steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Potter. Potter scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Yannick Riesling has been cut. Riesling gets in close and instigates a clinch. Potter blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Potter wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Riesling has picked Potter up - he's going for a ride! Riesling dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Potter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Riesling. Potter is trying to stand up here but Riesling is controlling him well. Potter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. That's two minutes gone in the round. Riesling seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Potter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riesling scoring with strikes to the body and head. Riesling thumps the canvas. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Potter is looking to chop away at Riesling's legs. Harry Potter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Riesling jabbing away but nothing is landing. Potter getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Riesling walks into a straight right hand from Potter. Potter misses with a jab, cross combination.
A head kick misses from Riesling. Potter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Riesling moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Riesling changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Potter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Riesling working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Riesling cracks Potter with a big right hand but Potter just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter parries the strikes from Riesling easily there. Riesling is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Potter to escape.
Riesling wants to lay and pray for a moment but Potter keeps working. Potter defending against the ground and pound. Riesling tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Riesling wants to control but Potter is keeping him busy. Potter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Riesling asserts his dominance and retains side control. Riesling looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Potter is avoiding damage well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Riesling working the strikes but Potter uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Potter scores with a nice strike. Potter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Potter misses with an uppercut. Riesling throws a body punch but Potter moves out of range. Nice uppercut lands for Riesling. That snapped Potter's head back.

Jab, jab by Riesling - just one landing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riesling is trying hard to land a takedown here. Potter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Riesling with a jab. A big left from Potter misses. Potter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Riesling. Riesling tests Potter's chin there with a solid looking shot. Potter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Riesling backs up against the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Harry Potter will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Yannick Riesling's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Potter moves out of range of the strikes. Jab from Potter. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Riesling displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Potter throws out the jab. A left and a right from Riesling both land. Nice combination. Riesling throws a hook but Potter blocks it. Potter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Potter misses with a jab, cross combination.

Potter tries to move into range but Riesling moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Riesling shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Potter napping and manages to drive through into side control! Riesling throwing strikes but Potter manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Riesling sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Riesling is trying to get back to full guard.

Potter wants to stand but Riesling has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Riesling is adopting a defensive guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Riesling trying to control the position.
Riesling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Potter preventing the sweep.

Potter misses with a looping right. Harry Potter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Riesling misses with a looping left. Riesling looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Potter!

Riesling lands with some strikes. Potter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Riesling sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Riesling postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Potter looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee warns Potter that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
