Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Canton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quincy Taylor! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Canton tries to avoid it but Taylor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Canton to the ground. Canton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Taylor swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Taylor lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Canton sprawling to the canvas. Taylor follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Canton hang on?
Canton is rocked!
It looks like Mark Canton has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Taylor scoring with strikes to the body and head. Oh Canton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Canton manages to escape and get back to his feet! Canton seems to have got his legs back now. Taylor misses with a wild combination.
Quincy Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Canton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Taylor.
No joy there for Taylor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Taylor fails to land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Canton. Taylor tries for a takedown but Canton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Canton moves into range and clinches up with Taylor. Canton decides to pull guard. Taylor won't allow Canton to get back to his feet. Taylor trying to control but Canton is working from the bottom. Canton wants to stand but Taylor is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Canton pushes Taylor off and gets back to his feet.
Taylor is trying hard to land a takedown here. Canton sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mark Canton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quincy Taylor. Taylor looks gassed! Canton tries to clinch up. Taylor looks to clinch and Canton counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Taylor is trying to stand back up but Canton is controlling him
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canton decides to return to a standing position. Canton rushes Taylor and presses him up against the cage. Canton has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Taylor avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Canton has hold of one of Taylor's legs. Taylor is fighting the takedown attempt but Canton gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Canton stands up from Taylor's guard - Canton perhaps looking for a knockout. Taylor throws a series of punches but Canton moves out of range. Canton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Canton stands up from Taylor's guard - Canton perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A shot to the body from Taylor misses and Canton counters by clinching up. Canton is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Taylor gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Canton wants a takedown.
Taylor tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Canton avoids it. Canton breaks from the clinch.
Canton misses with a takedown attempt - Taylor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Taylor throws a combination that misses and Canton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Canton stops Taylor from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Canton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Taylor to get to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Canton dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mark Canton's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Canton fails in his attempt to clinch. Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Canton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taylor's guard. Taylor working a defensive guard but Canton passes into half guard.
Taylor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Canton is working away from the top position though. Canton stands up out of the half guard. Canton clinches up with Taylor and pushes him back against the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Canton pulls guard successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor throwing strikes from guard but Canton blocks nicely. Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Canton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Taylor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Canton manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Canton clinches up with Taylor and pushes him back against the cage. Taylor fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Canton drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Taylor gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor tries to pull guard but Canton won't allow it.
Canton is trying to drag Taylor to the mat but Taylor just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Canton jumps into guard, dragging Taylor to the mat.
Canton wriggles free and stands up. Canton with a jab. Canton gets the takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canton stands up and we're back to a striking position. Taylor misses with a two punch combination.
Canton has managed to clinch.
Taylor throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Canton ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Canton no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Taylor looking to sit in guard and control but Canton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Canton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor tries for a takedown but Canton circles away easily and Canton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Canton. Mark Canton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quincy Taylor. Canton gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Taylor regains guard.
Taylor is looking to stand back up but Canton counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Taylor. Taylor is pressing down on Canton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Canton looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Taylor has Canton pulled in close to control his posture. Canton stands up from Taylor's guard - Canton perhaps looking for a knockout. Taylor lands a with a good body shot. Canton is looking to clinch but Taylor is avoiding it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Taylor thows a leg kick but Canton checks it and Canton counters with a nice low kick that buckles Taylor's knee momentarily. Taylor throws a lazy head kick and Canton counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Canton. Canton prevents Taylor from breaking the clinch. Taylor has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Taylor fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Canton gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Taylor is trying to stand up here but Canton is controlling him well. Taylor tries to roll over but Canton keeps him under control. Canton decides to return to a standing position. Quincy Taylor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Canton counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard. Canton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Taylor misses with a double jab
and Canton counters by moving into the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Taylor can't break the clinch.
Canton pulls Taylor into guard.
Canton pushes Taylor off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taylor throws a head kick that misses and Canton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taylor's guard. Canton gets to his feet. Taylor looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Taylor jabs Canton right on the nose. Canton blinks but takes it well. Canton moves into the clinch. Canton has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Taylor regains guard immediately. Mark Canton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Taylor working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Canton has passed into half guard!
Taylor pushes Canton off but Canton dives into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor is looking to regain half guard here but Canton keeps moving and retains side control. Canton decides to stand up, so the ref orders Taylor to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Taylor lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mark Canton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Canton pushes Taylor up against the cage in a clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Canton showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Canton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
