PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vince Noir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Hoffa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vince Noir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Hoffa!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffa throws a one two combo.


It looks like Vince Noir has been cut.
George Hoffa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoffa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hoffa dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hoffa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Noir stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hoffa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hoffa throws a right hand that Noir ducks under and follows up with a left that Noir also avoids with ease.
Hoffa throws a series of punches but Noir avoids them all with ease.
Hoffa throws a series of strikes that have Noir backpedaling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hoffa is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Noir fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hoffa sprawls well initially but Noir persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Noir tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hoffa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Noir has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Noir tries to control but Hoffa wriggling away.

Hoffa's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hoffa stops Noir from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoffa tries to reverse the position but Noir maintains control.
Noir moves to the back position.

Noir is breathing heavily.
Hoffa trying to control the hands but Noir breaks the grip.

Noir is not going to allow Hoffa to sit and survive in this position.

Noir has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Hoffa trying to control the hands but Noir breaks the grip.
Hoffa tries to escape but Noir has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Hoffa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Noir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hoffa prevents Noir from getting a body triangle.

Noir has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hoffa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Noir has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hoffa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoffa really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Noir's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

You can see the frustration on Hoffa's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but George Hoffa will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Noir gets the takedown into side control.

Noir is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hoffa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hoffa is trying to buck Noir off.
Hoffa is not content to let Noir control the position.
Hoffa is looking for a sweep.
Hoffa trying his best to control but Noir has mounted him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hoffa can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hoffa wants to hold on but Noir pushes him away.

Noir is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hoffa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Noir with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Noir prevents Hoffa from getting the reversal.
Noir wants to take his opponent's back but Hoffa doesn't allow it.
Hoffa is looking to improve his position but Noir isn't that keen on the idea.
Hoffa tries to lock up and control but Noir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hoffa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Noir kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Noir is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hoffa is surviving well by controlling Noir's body position as best he can.

Noir is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hoffa knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hoffa for a finish.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Hoffa throws a combination. Noir tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Hoffa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Noir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Noir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hoffa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hoffa wants to stand up but Noir is controlling him.
Hoffa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Noir is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Noir postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoffa wants to sweep here but Noir controlling him for the moment.

Noir drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Noir seems to have locked his on tight now - Hoffa screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Noir, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Vince Noir!
