Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Butts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tripper has chosen TEAR AWAY as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ed Butts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Tripper!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Butts gets the takedown into side control.

Tripper regains half guard, as Butts was trying to land strikes.
Butts thows a huge punch but Tripper dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Butts changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tripper tries to avoid it but Butts manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tripper to the ground. Tripper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Butts has a takedown stuffed.
Butts ducks under a wild hook from Tripper.

No luck for Butts with that takedown attempt.

Butts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tripper sprawls well. Tripper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Butts gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Tripper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Butts is just riding it out for now. Tripper eventually gives up the hold.

Butts on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Butts tries to get out of the position.

Butts kicks Tripper off and gets back to his feet.
Butts shoots and misses
and Tripper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Butts is breathing heavily.
Butts doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Tripper to counter with a crisp jab.
Tripper lands a nice shot that snaps Butts's head back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tripper lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Tripper slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

A jab-cross combination lands for Tripper and sends Butts crashing to the mat! Tripper follows him down to the mat - Butts regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Butts is rocked!
Butts is not content to let Tripper control the position.
Butts pushes Tripper off looking to stand but Tripper dives back in and keeps control.
Tripper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Butts!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
BOOM! Tripper connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Tripper dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tripper stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Tripper ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Butts has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tripper finds it's way round the side to connect with Butts's head.

and Tripper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Butts doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tripper counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Butts's guard now.
Tripper passes Butts's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Tripper is trying to control the action in half guard but Butts is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Tripper might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Butts kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Tripper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Tripper sizes up Butts with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ed Butts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Tripper counters with a single leg into guard. Butts didn't expect that.
Tripper stands up over Butts, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Tripper is in close to Butts's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Tripper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Butts with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Tripper wants to work for an arm triangle but Butts is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Butts is trying to stand up here but Tripper is controlling him well.
Tripper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tripper connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Butts momentarily.

and Tripper counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Tripper lands a lovely overhand right.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jack Tripper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Oh Butts is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tripper has hold of Butts's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Butts seems comfortable defending it but Tripper has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Butts is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Butts is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Tripper couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack Tripper!
