Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nate Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Kong!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia throws a right hand that Kong ducks under and follows up with a left that Kong also avoids with ease.

Garcia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kong regains full guard. Nicely done.
Garcia sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kong keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.
Kong wants to hit a switch here but Garcia passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kong there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garcia wants to control the pace but Kong is squirming around nicely.
Kong is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Garcia tries to control but Kong wriggling away.
Garcia avoids the attempt from Kong to control.

Garcia has control of Kong's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kong regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kong is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kong is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kong tries to hold on but Garcia pushes him away.
Garcia can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kong is looking to escape.
Kong is trying to escape the mount.
Garcia is breathing heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Garcia controlling the pace for now.
Kong tries to hold on but Garcia pushes him away.
Garcia controlling the position easily from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garcia with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kong is looking to improve his position but Garcia isn't that keen on the idea.

Kong regains half guard.
Garcia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kong on the ground.
Kong slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Kong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kong looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Garcia passes into side control.
Kong is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Kong regains half guard.
Kong wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.

Garcia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Garcia in particular looking to stall.
Kong tries to kick Garcia off but Garcia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Garcia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Garcia is trying to control the action in half guard but Kong is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kong wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.

Garcia wants to work for an arm triangle but Kong is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Garcia darts in and clinches Kong up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nate Garcia dominated that round.
That's time! Garcia's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A combination from Kong does no damage.
Garcia tries to clinch there but Kong circles away.
Kong stuffs the takedown attempt from Garcia. Garcia gets slowly back to his feet.

Garcia has taken the fight to the clinch.

Garcia pulls Kong into guard.
Kong slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kong trying to control the action but Garcia is working from the bottom.

Kong has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Garcia is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kong yanks on the arm and Garcia is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kong.
