Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brock Miai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brandon Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Miai shoots in and bounces Jackson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Jackson is trying to keep Miai in close.

Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Miai defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miai accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Miai postures up.

Miai drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miai jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Miai postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jackson controls Miai momentarily but Miai frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miai defends it easily.

Jackson looking for a guillotine here but Miai defends easily.

Jackson keeping moving, preventing Miai from controlling successfully.
Jackson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jackson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Miai wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

Jackson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson pulls Miai in close to his closed guard and prevents Miai from doing any damage or advancing position.
Miai trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Miai got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miai has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Miai wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jackson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Miai.
Miai misses with a straight right.
Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Miai bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Miai shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Miai avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jackson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jackson misses with a double jab.
Some wild striking there from Miai.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miai moves away.
Brandon Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miai swinging wilding here.
Jackson defending well as Miai loads up on a big left hand.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Miai pushes him off.
Jackson plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Brock Miai has been cut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Miai's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jackson lands a knee to the body.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Miai pushes him off.
Miai throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Miai circles away from the clinch attempt.
Miai has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Miai there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jackson wants to clinch up but Miai keeps it at a distance.
Jackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Jackson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brock Miai's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Miai paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Miai tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jackson thuds a left hand into Miai's body.
Miai keeps the fight on the outside.

Jackson moves into the clinch successfully.
Jackson lands a damaging elbow.
Miai on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A bit of stalling here from Jackson.
Jackson landing some nice looking knees to the body.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Jackson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miai, pushing him back against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Miai tries to score a body lock takedown but Jackson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A short body shot lands from Jackson as the two fighters clinch.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Brock Miai's cut is getting worse.
Miai avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Jackson moves into the clinch successfully.
Jackson lands a shot to the body.
Miai takes a knee to the side of the body.
Jackson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Jackson unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Miai backpedaling.


Brock Miai's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson lands a two punch combo.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson wants to clinch.

Jackson clinches.
Jackson lands a body shot.
Jackson landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Miai being controlled against the cage.

Jackson successfully pulls guard.

Jackson looking for a guillotine here but Miai defends easily.

Jackson pushes a forearm under Miai's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Miai is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
