The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuraba drops Nelson with a beautiful combination! Nelson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sakuraba is looking for the KO!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sakuraba circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nelson shoots in and drives through. Sakuraba sprawls well.
Nelson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Nelson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sakuraba knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground.
Nelson thows a huge punch but Sakuraba dodges it nicely.
Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Roy Nelson will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Nelson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nelson passes Sakuraba's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Nelson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sakuraba defend it? Nelson steps over the head and cranks it - Sakuraba is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Nelson!
