The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guzman gets the takedown into side control.
Guzman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hagans is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Guzman blocks the strikes from Hagans.
Hagans regains half guard there - taking advantage of Guzman's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Hagans moves into full guard.
Guzman stands and steps away. Hagans gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hagans lands with a nice combination. Guzman backs away looking to recover.
Guzman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Hagans is working for a submission of some sort.
Hagans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guzman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hagans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hagans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Guzman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hagans wants to sweep here but Guzman controlling him for the moment.
Guzman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hagans swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Guzman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hagans doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Guzman.

Guzman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Guzman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hagans keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hagans is working to avoid the ground and pound but Guzman connects with a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Guzman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Guzman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hagans is looking for a sweep.
Guzman stands up and beckons Hagans to his feet.
Guzman moves into the clinch.
Guzman pulls guard successfully.

Hagans looking to sit in guard and control but Guzman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hagans throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Hagans is breathing heavily.

Guzman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Guzman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
