Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Markku Osteri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Osteri comes into the arena with Rolling Stones - Symphaty For The Devil blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Man's choice of entrance music: All My Life. The key to victory for Markku Osteri has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Man! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Osteri tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Osteri lands with a shot to the body. No luck for Osteri with that takedown attempt. Danga de danga de dang - Osteri scores with a four punch combination! Man throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Markku Osteri has been cut. Man doesn't succeed with the takedown and Osteri counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Man lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Man shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Osteri manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Osteri is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Man trying to stand up but can't free himself from Osteri's guard. Man postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Osteri preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Man missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Man loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Osteri looking to control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Man tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Horrible takedown by Man or perhaps it was just good defense by Osteri which made him look bad. Man will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Markku Osteri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Man. Man looks gassed! Osteri lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Osteri. Osteri shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Osteri is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Osteri is looking for a kimura but Man is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Osteri to get the leverage. Osteri not landing any meaningful shots this time. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Osteri darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Man has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Man keeping control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Osteri is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Man sees it coming and defends easily. Man avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Osteri. Osteri trying to control from half guard but Man is working away. Ground and pound from Osteri. Osteri is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Man got a little sloppy there for a moment and Osteri has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! Osteri is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Osteri keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully. Man takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Osteri throwing shots but missing, from side control. Osteri looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Man is avoiding damage well.
Osteri scores with a couple of short elbows. Sloppy strikes there by Osteri. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Osteri is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Man knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Man is breathing heavily. Osteri landing strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Osteri creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Man sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Osteri wants to control but Man is keeping him busy. Man struggling a bit here. Man is not content to let Osteri control the position. Osteri grinds an elbow into Man's temple. Osteri working the head with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Osteri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Man keeps working. Man is working to avoid the ground and pound but Osteri connects with a decent elbow. Osteri thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Osteri fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Man is looking for a sweep. Osteri lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Osteri throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Man is being controlled here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Osteri is looking to take a break and control but Man is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Man tries to get back to half guard but can't. Man is not content to let Osteri control the position. A lull in the action here. Osteri working the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Osteri taking a break here but Man is having none of it and regains half guard. Man wants to get back to his feet. Man blocking the ground and pound attempt from Osteri. Osteri lands with a punch from half guard. Osteri thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Osteri is looking to take a break and control but Man is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Osteri landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Man blocks a low kick nicely. Osteri closes the distance and clinches. A short uppercut from Osteri. Man dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Osteri managing to block the knees to the body from Man.
Osteri tries to break free but Man pushes him back against the cage. Osteri is trying to force a seperation but Man has the dominant position. Man's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Man takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Man can't break the clinch.
Man is pressed up against the cage. Osteri has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Man down to the mat. Man avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Osteri looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Osteri throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Osteri frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Osteri with the ground and pound from mount. Osteri breaks from Man's wrist control and lands an elbow. Osteri working the ground and pound effectively.
Man in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Osteri lands a big elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Osteri is in the full mount, landing strikes. Osteri throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Osteri with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Osteri is in the full mount, landing strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Man is looking to get to half guard. Osteri postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Man looks a forlorn figure.

Osteri trying to control but Man is having none of it. Man tries to hold on but Osteri postures up. Osteri lands a big shot there that rocks Man but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Osteri working Man over with strikes here. Osteri cracks Man with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Man takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Man is in a horrible position here. Osteri smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Osteri throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Joe Man has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Markku Osteri is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Osteri scoring with strikes but Man is staying in there. Osteri trying to control but he's not successful this time. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Man takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! Markku Osteri showed his dominance in that final round. Well Osteri has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
