Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janne Marttila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Heihachi Mishima!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mishima rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marttila moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Marttila clinches up with Mishima and pushes him back against the cage.
Mishima can't break the clinch.
Mishima wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mishima wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Marttila goes for a takedown attempt but Mishima pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mishima tries to bum rush Marttila with a series of wild strikes but Marttila uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mishima throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marttila slips a jab and a cross from Mishima.
Mishima misses with a few strikes there.
Mishima throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Marttila shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mishima's guard.
Marttila drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marttila jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mishima looks gassed!
Marttila pushes down on Mishima's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Marttila is looking for a kimura but Mishima is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marttila to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Marttila is working for a submission of some sort.
Marttila is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Mishima has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marttila is trying to work for a kimura but Mishima is defending well.
Marttila seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mishima does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marttila is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mishima is just riding it out for now. Marttila eventually gives up the hold.
Marttila seems to be working for a kimura but Mishima defends the submission attempt.

Marttila passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mishima!
Mishima wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mishima misses with the combination.
It looks like Heihachi Mishima has been cut.
Marttila feints and as Mishima raises his hands in defense, Marttila changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Marttila works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marttila seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mishima is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
