Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takashi Kakihara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Kei Katsuro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kakihara comes to the ring accompanied by ZEEBRA - BUSHIDO. Katsuro has chosen Lil Wayne - Playin With Fire as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takashi Kakihara!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Kei Katsuro!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kakihara gets a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kakihara.
Kakihara drops down looking for an ankle pick but Katsuro pulls his leg out and moves away.
Katsuro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Katsuro shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Katsuro was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kakihara is desperately trying to improve his position but Katsuro has a good base and remains in mount.

Katsuro is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Kakihara doesn't manage to clinch there - Katsuro circles away.
Katsuro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kakihara swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kakihara throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kakihara moves in looking to clinch but Katsuro pushes him off.
Katsuro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Katsuro tries a head kick but it misses.
Katsuro fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kakihara gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Katsuro counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kakihara takes a kick to the side of the head.
Katsuro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kakihara moves out of range of the strikes.

Katsuro forces Kakihara back against the ropes and clinches.
Kakihara tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Katsuro just stands there and leans against the ropes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takashi Kakihara. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Katsuro manages to break the clinch.
Kakihara shoots and misses

and Katsuro decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kakihara's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Katsuro tries to free his leg and advance position but Kakihara is retaining full guard.
Katsuro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kakihara manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Katsuro manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Katsuro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kakihara can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kakihara avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Katsuro pulls Kakihara in close to his closed guard and prevents Kakihara from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kakihara has gone for a leg lock! Katsuro slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kakihara's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Katsuro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Katsuro wanted to stand there but Kakihara had control of the position.

Katsuro gets to his feet - Kakihara follows without any prompting.
Katsuro shoots and misses

and Kakihara counters with a shoot takedown. Katsuro fights it but they end up in guard.

Katsuro had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kakihara is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Katsuro Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kakihara's back instead.

That's five minutes gone in the round.

Kakihara tries to roll but Katsuro sticks to his back.

Kakihara is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Katsuro gets his way!
Kakihara rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kakihara manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Katsuro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kakihara, up you get!

Katsuro shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Katsuro decides to stand and escape the position.
Kakihara on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

and Katsuro counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kakihara's guard now.

Katsuro stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Katsuro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kakihara is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Kakihara fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Katsuro sprawls well initially but Kakihara persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Katsuro is trying to stand up here but Kakihara is controlling him well.

Kakihara decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Ken Kei Katsuro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Katsuro tries a head kick but it misses.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.
Kakihara connects with a solid leg kick.

and Katsuro moves into the clinch.
Katsuro crunches a lovely knee into Kakihara's ribcage.
Katsuro scores a nice knee to the body.
Kakihara fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Katsuro will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kakihara up against the ropes.

Katsuro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Katsuro lands a front kick.
Kakihara misses with a takedown
and Katsuro counters with a one-two to the body.


Kakihara is rocked!
A head kick by Katsuro - that's a beauty! Kakihara is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Katsuro can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ken Kei Katsuro!
