Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucian Mars!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Fontana!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana leaves Mars with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fontana takes a swing at Mars's ribcage but misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mars is defended easily by Fontana.
Fontana tries for a takedown but Mars circles away easily

and Mars counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fontana gets back to full guard.
Fontana keeping moving, preventing Mars from controlling successfully.
Fontana wants to stand but Mars is controlling the position.
Mars has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fontana takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Fontana winds up and cracks Mars with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fontana passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mars!

Fontana landing strikes from the mount and Mars is in trouble!

Fontana lands a big shot there that rocks Mars but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fontana wants to control the pace but Mars is squirming around nicely.
Fontana has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fontana is working for a guillotine from mount but Mars frees his head quite easily.
The referee warns Mars that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fontana decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Fontana shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mars's guard.
Mars bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fontana's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fontana throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Fontana tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mars sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fontana somewhat.

Fontana fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mars sprawls well initially but Fontana persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mars wants to control but Fontana is keeping busy.
Fontana winds up and cracks Mars with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fontana thows a huge punch but Mars dodges it nicely.
Fontana looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Fontana is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mars defends it well.

Fontana landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fontana looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mars with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fontana is looking for a kimura but Mars is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fontana to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fontana throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Jack Fontana showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Fontana is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mars is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fontana decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mars is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mars takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mars accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mars wants to stand and escape but instead Fontana has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fontana passes into half guard.
Fontana is trying to control the action in half guard but Mars is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lucian Mars has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fontana is nestled in close to Mars, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Jack Fontana comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Fontana winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
