Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rob Tyree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Pappa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pappa is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DJ Icey - The One. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Rob Tyree! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Pappa! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pappa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyree as he avoids it easily. Eddie Pappa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tyree swats away the attempt to clinch by Pappa. Tyree displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pappa. Tyree scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pappa can do anything to dispel that myth. Tyree working the ground and pound. Pappa manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tyree's best efforts. Pappa is looking for a sweep. Tyree is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tyree blocks the strikes from Pappa.

Tyree missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Tyree misses with a head shot. Pappa uses the momentum to regain guard. Pappa keeping moving, preventing Tyree from controlling successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pappa tries to strike from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pappa keeping moving, preventing Tyree from controlling successfully. Pappa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pappa is striking but Tyree is not phased and passes to half guard. Pappa is looking to improve his position.
Pappa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tyree's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tyree's back! Pappa is looking for a rear naked choke here but Tyree reverses the position brilliantly into Pappa's guard!
Pappa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tyree is aware though and is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pappa is looking for a triangle but Tyree pushes his legs off easily.
Pappa looks gassed! Pappa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tyree is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pappa. Pappa prevents Tyree from improving position. Tyree is looking to take a break and control but Pappa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pappa being controlled for a moment. Pappa wants to control but Tyree postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tyree working the ground and pound. Pappa wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Pappa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tyree's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Pappa has a hand on Tyree's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tyree takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Tyree prevents Pappa from getting the reversal. Tyree wants to control the pace but Pappa is squirming around nicely. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pappa tries to hold on but Tyree pushes him away. Pappa is looking to improve his position but Tyree isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Tyree dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Pappa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tyree counters by clinching up. Tyree drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Tyree is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pappa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Tyree is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Tyree. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tyree has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pappa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Tyree is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pappa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Tyree tries for a takedown. No joy.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pappa drops back looking for a leg! Tyree is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tyree manages to kick Pappa off! Pappa jumps back into Tyree's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pappa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tyree is keeping the position for now.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pappa wants to clinch and Tyree counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Tyree is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pappa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Pappa tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Pappa gets through Tyree's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Pappa stalling against the cage.
Tyree tries to score a body lock takedown but Pappa shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Pappa gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pappa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Tyree to get to his feet. Pappa fails with a takedown attempt. Pappa scores with a head kick.
Tyree throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pappa was covering up waiting for the punch and Tyree finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tyree trying to control the position from guard on top but Pappa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pappa wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Pappa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tyree defends it easily. Pappa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tyree. Tyree has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pappa doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Tyree sitting in guard, not really doing much. Pappa looking to control.

Eddie Pappa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Pappa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Tyree counters with a one-two to the body. Tyree lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Tyree lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Pappa tries to clinch up and Tyree counters with a left and a right that stings Pappa. Pappa has his takedown stuffed and Tyree counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Pappa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Tyree counters with a one-two to the body. Rob Tyree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Pappa. Pappa shoots and misses and Tyree counters by moving into the clinch. Tyree lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pappa backwards. Tyree lands a nice uppercut. Pappa turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Pappa has knee on belly momentarily but Tyree bucks him off and regains half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pappa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tyree defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tyree makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Pappa wants to clinch and Tyree counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Tyree tries for a takedown but Pappa manages to get underhooks.

Pappa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pappa tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Tyree counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pappa's guard now. Pappa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tyree content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Tyree working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Pappa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pappa being controlled here, momentarily. Tyree throws a strike but Pappa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Pappa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pappa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pappa is stalling in the full guard. Pappa trying to control the position from guard on top but Tyree is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tyree has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pappa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Pappa with a poor takedown and Tyree counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pappa pushes Tyree off looking to stand but Tyree dives back in and keeps control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pappa looking for submissions off his back. Pappa is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Tyree tries to control but Pappa wriggling away. Tyree working Pappa over with strikes here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. You get the feeling that Pappa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Pappa tries to hold on but Tyree postures up. Pappa is trying desperately to improve position.
And that's the end of the fight! Rob Tyree showed his dominance in that final round. Well Tyree has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
