0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Amber Hodges! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cavalera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hodges but Hodges pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hodges looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Hodges darts in and clinches Cavalera up against the cage. Hodges throws a head punch that misses. Hodges misses with an elbow over the top. Nice elbow from Hodges.
It looks like Max Cavalera has been cut. Cavalera lands a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cavalera advances position into side control! Cavalera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. That's one minute gone in the round. Hodges is looking to regain half guard here but Cavalera keeps moving and retains side control. Cavalera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cavalera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Cavalera lands some shots froms side control. Cavalera swings around for an armbar but Hodges sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cavalera's guard. Cavalera is trying to control the position but Hodges postures up. Cavalera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hodges can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cavalera looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cavalera is looking to sinch up a triangle. Hodges throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cavalera's body to avoid the submission. Cavalera has instead reached around Hodges's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cavalera arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
