Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Colin Ferraro has been cut.
Ferraro is looking to clinch.
Ferraro tries to clinch up but Ramirez circles away and keeps his distance.
Ramirez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ferraro rushes Ramirez and presses him up against the cage.

Ramirez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ferraro throws a wild body kick that Ramirez sees coming a mile off.
Ferraro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ramirez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ferraro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Ramirez or perhaps it was just good defense by Ferraro which made him look bad.
Ferraro doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ramirez counters with a series of strikes. Ferraro will be more careful next time no doubt.
Ferraro throws a right hand that Ramirez ducks under and follows up with a left that Ramirez also avoids with ease.

Ferraro has gone for a leg lock! Ramirez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ferraro's guard.

Ferraro is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ramirez distracts Ferraro with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ramirez stands up over Ferraro, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Ramirez is looking to work some ground and pound but Ferraro has wrist control.
Ferraro wants to stand and escape but Ramirez is having none of it.
Ramirez distracts Ferraro with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ferraro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ferraro is breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramirez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ramirez works over Ferraro with some ground and pound from guard.
Ramirez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ferraro pushes Ramirez off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Ramirez counters with a straight right hand.

and Ramirez counters with a shoot takedown. Ferraro fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ferraro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ferraro is looking to stand up but Ramirez isn't so interested in that idea.

Ramirez stands up from Ferraro's guard - Ramirez perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ramirez throws a sloppy head kick

so Ferraro counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Ramirez is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ferraro has his hands clasped together but Ramirez extends an breaks Ferraro's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ramirez.
