Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Toby Chapelle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ultimate Victory kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toby Chapelle! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Alves! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves wants to clinch. Chapelle lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The fight moves into the clinch position. Alves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Chapelle throws a nice inside leg kick. Chapelle tests Alves's chin there with a solid looking shot. Alves throws a leg kick that misses. A punch combination from Chapelle misses. Toby Chapelle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chapelle swivels and escapes. Chapelle misses with a wild combination.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Chapelle takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses. Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chapelle. Alves thows a body shot but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chapelle throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Chapelle swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Alves counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chapelle swivels though and keeps the full guard. Alves working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chapelle's head. Alves with a nice head shot there. Chapelle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chapelle wants to stand but Alves is controlling the position. Alves forces his way into half guard. Chapelle is trying to stand up here but Alves is controlling him well. Alves prevents Chapelle from improving his position. Alves is looking for a kimura here.
Chapelle is looking for a sweep. Alves is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chapelle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alves. Chapelle won't allow Alves to pass to mount. Chapelle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chapelle tries to get out of the position. Chapelle tries to roll over but Alves keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Alves throws a nice looking combination but Chapelle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Alves shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chapelle but Chapelle pushes him off and we're back to square one. Toby Chapelle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renato Alves. Chapelle throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chapelle staying out of range there. Alves connects with a right hand. Chapelle shakes it off. Chapelle slips under a jab from Alves. Alves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chapelle.
Danga de danga de dang - Chapelle scores with a four punch combination! Alves looks gassed! Chapelle punishes Alves's body with a nice straight punch. Chapelle bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Chapelle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alves has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Alves is rocked! Chapelle dances in with a quick combination. Alves is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Chapelle snaps Alves's head back. Alves stumbles backwards against the cage. Chapelle steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Alves's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Alves just didn't come prepared.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Toby Chapelle! Toby Chapelle retains his welterweight title!
