Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Den Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy has chosen All within my hands-Metallica as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Den Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Hardy!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a shot to the body.
Santos misses with an uppercut.
Santos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Santos misses with a body shot.
Santos thows a left - swing and a miss!
Santos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santos throws a series of strikes that have Hardy backpedaling.
Santos throws a sloppy head kick and Hardy moves out of range easily.
Santos just misses with a punch to the body.
Santos misses with a hook. Hardy ducked under it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hardy on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Santos misses with a few strikes there.

Santos works over Hardy's head and body with a nice combination.
Hardy avoids the body shot from Santos.

Hardy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santos's guard.

Hardy drops back looking for a leg! Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santos manages to kick Hardy off! Hardy jumps back into Santos's guard.
Hardy tries to free his leg and advance position but Santos is retaining full guard.

Hardy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Santos wants to stand up but Hardy is controlling him.

Hardy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Santos is keeping the position for now.

Hardy drops back looking for a leg! Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santos manages to kick Hardy off! Hardy jumps back into Santos's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hardy stops Santos from standing up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Santos lands a nice shot that snaps Hardy's head back.

Hardy shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense.
Santos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hardy closes the distance and clinches up with Santos, looking for a takedown. Hardy pushes Santos against the cage but Santos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Santos misses with a wild combination.
Santos lands with a nice combination. Hardy backs away looking to recover.
Santos throws a head kick but Hardy moves out of range.
Hardy avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Santos misses with a double jab.
Den Santos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hardy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Santos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hardy takes one on the button.
Santos misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hardy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santos but Santos pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Den Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Hardy.

Santos really wants to buck Hardy off and get back to his feet.

Hardy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Santos has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Santos squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Den Santos will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Santos throws a series of punches but Hardy avoids them all with ease.
Hardy slips a jab and a cross from Santos.
A left and a right from Santos both land. Nice combination.
Santos throws out a loose jab but Hardy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Santos misses with a jab, cross combination.
Santos lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hardy dodges the punch combination from Santos.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Hardy looking to secure an arm triangle but Santos defends it well.
Hardy won't let Santos get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hardy swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Santos is now in Hardy's guard. A big mistake from Hardy there, giving up the dominant position!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Santos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Santos gets to his feet - Hardy follows without any prompting.
Santos misses with the combination.
Santos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hardy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Den Santos will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Hardy shoots in for a double leg but Santos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hardy shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Hardy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Santos looks to land a combination but Hardy avoids it well.

Hardy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hardy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hardy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hardy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hardy swings around for an armbar but Santos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hardy's guard.
Santos wants to stand but Hardy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hardy is working an open guard so Santos takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Santos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Santos lands with a hook. Hardy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Santos takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Santos tries to bum rush Hardy with a series of wild strikes but Hardy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Santos throws a series of punches but Hardy avoids them all with ease.
Santos goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Santos misses with a wild body shot.
Santos throws a right and a left that both miss.
Santos tests Hardy's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Santos misses with a few strikes there.
Santos stuffs the takedown.
Den Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Hardy.
A big right from Santos misses.

Hardy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hardy seems to be working for a kimura but Santos defends the submission attempt.
Dan Hardy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Den Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Santos wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Den Santos.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
