Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geoff Dunlop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Ford!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dunlop has Ford up against the cage in a clinch.

Ford breaks the clinch.
Ford fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dunlop gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ford counters with a three punch combo that has Dunlop backing up. Dunlop nods at Ford to acknowledge the strikes.

Dunlop scores with a takedown into Ford's guard.
Dunlop postures up.

Ford has his foot on Dunlop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dunlop works his way back into a safe position though.

Dunlop thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dunlop wants to control from the top but Ford keeps moving.

Dunlop works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dunlop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dunlop is keen to just control but Ford is a slippery customer.

Ford is looking for a sweep. Dunlop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ford is defending against the submission attempts here by Dunlop.
Dunlop throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ford looks like he's trying to stand up.

Dunlop is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ford wants to improve his position but Dunlop is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice takedown defense from Dunlop. No joy for Ford on that attempt.

Dunlop wants to control but Ford postures up.
Dunlop might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dunlop gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Ford wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dunlop keeps working.
Dunlop is trying to get back to full guard.

Ford seems to be looking for submissions.
Dunlop trying to control but Ford postures up.
Ford is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ford is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Dunlop has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A combination from Dunlop does no damage.
Dunlop doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ford moves into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Geoff Dunlop. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ford is trying to trip Dunlop. He has hold of a leg but Dunlop is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ford persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ford is posturing up here but Dunlop has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ford tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ford has to tap! Slick submission there by Dunlop!
