Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Trauma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cory Smith! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trauma darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Smith pushes Trauma off looking to stand but Trauma dives back in and keeps control.
Smith on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Trauma wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. Trauma is stalling here. Smith is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Trauma seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Smith has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Trauma, who protects the arm well. Smith wants to control but Trauma is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith tries to advance to mount but can't. Trauma is looking for a sweep. Trauma might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Trauma regains half guard. Smith looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Trauma is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Trauma is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Trauma throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely. Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. No luck with that takedown attempt from Trauma. Smith stuns Trauma with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Trauma which made him look bad. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Smith connects with a looping right hand.
Trauma misses with a takedown attempt and Smith counters with a straight right hand. Trauma is breathing heavily. Smith works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Smith scores with a sloppy right hand. Trauma should have avoided that one. This has been an exciting period of action! Trauma throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A solid leg kick lands there for Trauma.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith stalks Trauma and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Trauma's face. Trauma staggers backwards, shaken. Trauma shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Trauma. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Trauma. Trauma circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Trauma takes a jab right on the kisser.

and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Smith lunges at Trauma with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Trauma's hand. Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Trauma on the side of the head. Smith scores with a nice head shot. Trauma with a lazy takedown attempt and Trauma takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Smith fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Trauma takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Smith thuds a left hand into Trauma's body. Trauma takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Smith throws a head kick that misses. A slapping body kick lands there for Smith. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A lazy left from Smith finds it's target. Smith has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Smith scores with a jab to the jaw. Smith cracks a nice hook into Trauma's ribs. Trauma doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith lands a glancing blow to the side of Trauma's head. Trauma fails with the takedown and Smith counters with a straight right hand. Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Trauma tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Trauma manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Smith looks to land a combination. Trauma sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Trauma misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Trauma swings and misses with a shot to the body and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Trauma on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Tom Trauma is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Trauma! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Trauma looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Trauma takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Trauma takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Trauma's head back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith clobbers Trauma with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Trauma's guard. Trauma is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Trauma manages to avoid the submission attempt. You can see the frustration on Trauma's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smith decides to stand up, so the ref orders Trauma to his feet. Smith throws a good cross that connects.

and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Smith feints and as Trauma raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Smith stands up from guard. Let's bang! Trauma walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Smith throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

And that's the end of the fight! Cory Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
