The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ruas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ruas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rich can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rich is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Rich knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruas on the ground. Rich wants to control but Ruas is having none of it. Ruas controlling the pace for now. Ruas looking for a guillotine from mount but Rich is having none of it. Rich is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ruas has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Rich is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jerson Ruas!
