Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raf Gon DIas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Mullins!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gon DIas fails with a takedown attempt.
Mullins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mullins rushes Gon DIas and presses him up against the cage.
Mullins landing knees to the head.


It looks like Raf Gon DIas has been cut.
Mullins leaning his opponent against the cage.

Mullins gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mullins wants to control from the top but Gon DIas keeps moving.
Mullins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Mullins gets to his feet. Gon DIas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The fighters circling - Mullins throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gon DIas swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mullins throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gon DIas was covering up waiting for the punch and Mullins finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gon DIas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mullins's waist but Mullins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gon DIas off to one side.
Gon DIas is breathing heavily.

and Mullins counters by clinching up.

Mullins has Gon DIas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mullins pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gon DIas tumbling to the mat - Mullins dives into Gon DIas's guard.
Gon DIas is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Mullins stands and steps away. Gon DIas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mullins throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gon DIas closes the distance but Mullins moves to the side

and Mullins counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mullins.
Gon DIas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gon DIas is looking to stand up but Mullins isn't so interested in that idea.

Mullins shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mullins showed some decent athleticism there.

Mullins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Mullins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gon DIas won't be happy with that.
Gon DIas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mullins on the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mullins stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Gon DIas tries for a takedown but Mullins circles away easily

and Mullins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gon DIas's guard.

Mullins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mullins stands up from Gon DIas's guard - Mullins perhaps looking for a knockout.
Gon DIas shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raf Gon DIas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mullins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mullins postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gon DIas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mullins, into his guard.

Gon DIas wants to control from the top but Mullins keeps moving.
Mullins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gon DIas is one step ahead there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Mullins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gon DIas won't be happy with that.

Mullins stands up and we're back to a striking position.

so Mullins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gon DIas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mullins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gon DIas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerard Mullins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mullins stuffs the takedown attempt from Gon DIas. Gon DIas gets slowly back to his feet.

Gon DIas ducks under a wild hook from Mullins.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mullins.
Gon DIas throws a series of punches but Mullins moves out of range.
Mullins throws a shot from downtown. Gon DIas moves away and avoids it.
Gon DIas shoots in for a takedown but Mullins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Mullins counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gon DIas!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mullins wants to take Gon DIas's back but he can't do it this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mullins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gon DIas is trying to escape the mount.
Gerard Mullins has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mullins trying to control but Gon DIas is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gon DIas holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Mullins tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gon DIas is desperately trying to improve his position but Mullins has a good base and remains in mount.
Gon DIas is trying to stand.
Mullins controlling the position easily from mount.
Gon DIas tries to hold on but Mullins pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gerard Mullins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mullins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
