And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Brown counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brown.
Smith misses with a punch to the body.

Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brown is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smith tries for a kimura but Brown is defending well.

Brown manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Smith prevents Brown from improving his position.

Brown is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Brown is defending against the submission attempts here by Smith.
Brown is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard.
Smith passes into side control, despite Brown's attempt to control the position.

Brown is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Brown throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Smith.
Brown moves out of range of the body kick from Smith.
Brown tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brown keeps the fight on the outside.
Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brown misses with a body shot.
Brown doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Brown wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side
and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
Brown wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Smith stops Brown from standing up.
Smith postures up.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Brown's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Brown has control of Smith's left arm, preventing Smith from doing any damage.
Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith throws a series of punches but Brown moves out of range.
