Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Catorce KA (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burnett throws a nice looking combination but KA bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A right-left combo lands from Burnett. KA throws a left and a right that both miss
and Burnett counters with a left and a right that stings KA. KA tries for a takedown but Burnett circles away easily and Burnett counters with a one-two to the body. Burnett is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Burnett leaves KA with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. KA with a lazy takedown attempt and Burnett counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for KA! DJ Burnett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Catorce KA. This has been an exciting period of action! KA wants to hold on but Burnett pushes him away. Burnett goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now KA is on top in guard.
Burnett throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Burnett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. KA throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Burnett tries to clinch but KA moves out of range. Burnett scores with a one two! KA had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. KA gets caught flat footed, as Burnett shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. KA controls Burnett momentarily but Burnett frees himself. Burnett is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burnett postures up in KA's guard and throws a big left but KA blocks it. Burnett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. KA jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burnett walks away with a smile on his face. KA gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. KA tries to land a front kick but Burnett steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. KA moves out of range of the leg kick from Burnett. KA gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Burnett counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. KA misses with a takedown and Burnett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in KA's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burnett gets to his feet. KA looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Burnett turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. KA pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Burnett tries to clinch but KA moves out of range. Danga de danga de dang - Burnett scores with a four punch combination! KA gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. KA keeping moving, preventing Burnett from controlling successfully. Burnett stands up from guard. Let's bang! KA is trying desperately to land a takedown but Burnett is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for KA. Burnett scores with a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burnett lands a with a good body shot. Burnett throws a right and a left that KA avoids nicely. Burnett fails with a takedown attempt from distance. KA throws a head kick that misses. A combination from Burnett does no damage. KA throws a leg kick but Burnett sees it coming and checks it nicely. Burnett lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

KA closes the distance and pushes Burnett back into the cage. KA escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
KA stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and KA wants it to stay on the feet. KA tries for a takedown but Burnett circles away easily and Burnett counters with a one-two to the body. Burnett tries to score a power double leg takedown but KA sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Burnett somewhat. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Burnett throws a right and a left that KA avoids nicely.

Burnett rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but KA moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Burnett shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as KA sprawls well. KA wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Burnett gets slowly back to his feet. KA fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. KA throws a leg kick but Burnett moved away. No joy there for Burnett, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
KA shoots in for a double leg but Burnett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Burnett tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. DJ Burnett is winning the standup battle so far. Burnett misses with a double jab.
Burnett throws a front kick aimed at KA's knee but KA avoids it well. Burnett will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Burnett is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because KA is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Burnett content to control rather than advance.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Burnett. Burnett looks to land a combination. KA sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Burnett tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but KA swivels and escapes. Excellent takedown into side control there by Burnett. Burnett scores with punches from side control. Burnett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Burnett stands up and beckons KA to his feet.

Burnett shoots in and drives through. KA sprawls well. KA moves into the clinch. KA successfully pulls guard.

Burnett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Burnett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Burnett gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Burnett tries to clinch and KA counters by clinching up. Burnett displaying some good clinch control by pressing KA up against the cage. KA changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Burnett fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

KA gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Burnett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but KA paws at him with a jab and circles away. KA stuffs the takedown attempt from Burnett. Burnett gets slowly back to his feet. Burnett throws a combination but it was largely blocked by KA.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from KA. No joy for Burnett on that attempt. KA lands a head kick!
KA connects with a solid leg kick. KA looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Burnett! Burnett sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Burnett is doing well to control the position and prevent KA from advancing to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. KA is thwarting Burnett's attempts to control the position. KA trying to control the pace. KA tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burnett has one foot on KA's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! DJ Burnett showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burnett, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
