PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zane Bridges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marco Polo!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bridges tries to close the distance and clinch up but Polo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Polo lands a jab to the head.

Bridges gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Polo stopping the sweep attempt from Bridges.
Polo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bridges works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Polo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Polo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bridges is on top in guard.
Polo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bridges!
Polo misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bridges shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Polo pinned against the cage. Polo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Polo looks to land a combination. Bridges sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Polo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bridges is staying active underneath Polo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Polo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bridges drops back, looking for a kneebar! Polo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Polo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Polo!

Bridges has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Polo uses from the top position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nice shot lands for Polo.

Bridges pushes Polo up against the cage in a clinch.
Polo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bridges walks away with a smile on his face. Polo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Polo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bridges is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zane Bridges.
