Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thijs Meyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Borje Cuba! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cuba moves out of range of the body kick. Meyer misses the jab. Meyer misses with a wild combination.
Cuba bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cuba tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cuba has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Cuba working the strikes but Meyer uses the opportunity to regain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cuba not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cuba thows a huge punch but Meyer dodges it nicely.

Cuba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. It looks like Cuba is going to stand back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cuba avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Meyer takes a swing at Cuba's ribcage but misses. Meyer misses with the combination.

It looks like Borje Cuba has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cuba on the wrong end of a nice hook. Cuba slips under a jab from Meyer. Meyer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cuba moves away. Meyer lands a left and a right that send Cuba crashing to the mat, dazed. Meyer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Meyer throws a jab when Cuba was well out of range. Meyer misses with a kick to the body.
Meyer throws a jab but it's blocked by Cuba. Meyer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cuba manages to avoid it. Cuba slips under a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Meyer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cuba doesn't seem phased though. Meyer lands a right hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meyer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cuba is able to avoid easily. Meyer thows a body shot but no joy. Cuba blocks a jab. Cuba uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Meyer. Cuba slips under a jab. Meyer takes a swing at Cuba's ribcage but misses. Some wild striking there from Meyer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cuba takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Meyer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Cuba avoids the body shot from Meyer.

Cuba doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Thijs Meyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meyer takes a swing at Cuba's ribcage but misses. Meyer is looking to score with low kicks. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Meyer misses with a straight right. Cuba takes a shot right to the bread basket. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cuba takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Cuba uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Meyer.

That's one minute gone in the round. Meyer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cuba. Cuba is breathing heavily. Cuba shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Meyer throws a low kick but it's checked well by Cuba. Left hook, right uppercut from Meyer. Meyer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cuba defending well as Meyer loads up on a big left hand. Meyer lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Meyer was covering up waiting for the punch and Cuba finishes the takedown easily into guard. Meyer is pulling down on Cuba's head to control his posture. Cuba has gone for a leg lock! Meyer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cuba's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meyer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Meyer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Meyer throws a strike but Cuba rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Cuba is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Meyer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Meyer has escaped and now he's on top!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cuba controls Meyer momentarily but Meyer frees himself. Meyer passes Cuba's left leg - he's now in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Meyer slips a nice elbow through Cuba's hands, connecting with Cuba's forehead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Meyer throws a shot from downtown. Cuba moves away and avoids it. A big left from Meyer misses. Meyer connects with a crisp jab. Meyer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Cuba slips a straight right by Meyer. Meyer lands with an uppercut that bounces Cuba off the cage and back into rage. Thijs Meyer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Meyer. Meyer misses with a wild body shot. Meyer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cuba steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Meyer. Cuba shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Meyer sprawls well. Meyer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cuba gets slowly back to his feet. Meyer misses with a low kick.
Meyer throws a solid leg kick but Cuba takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Meyer. Meyer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cuba.

Meyer throws a body kick that misses. Meyer connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Cuba misses with a takedown attempt - Meyer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Meyer looks to land a combination. Cuba sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meyer lands a head shot. Meyer stuns Cuba with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Thijs Meyer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meyer lands with a kick to the temple. Cuba shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Meyer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Meyer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Meyer sizes up Cuba with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Meyer looks to land a combination but Cuba avoids it well. Cuba takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Cuba takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Meyer cracks Cuba with an open hand slap. Borje Cuba has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Meyer lands with a straight right. Cuba didn't see that one coming.
And that's the end of the fight! Thijs Meyer showed his dominance in that final round. Well Meyer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
