Moon comes to the cage accompanied by Bring the Noise. Eikemo has chosen Unholy Forces Of Evil as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Moon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Olve Eikemo! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eikemo tries to close the distance and clinch but Moon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Moon thows a body shot but no joy. Moon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Eikemo moves away. Eikemo is looking to clinch. Eikemo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Moon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Eikemo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Moon swats him away and circles back towards the center. Eikemo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moon looks to land a combination but Eikemo avoids it well. Eikemo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A shot to de liver by Moon. Beautiful body shot. Eikemo throws a head kick that misses. Eikemo wants to clinch up but Moon keeps it at a distance. Nice defenses there by Moon. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moon thuds a left hand into Eikemo's body. Eikemo doesn't manage to clinch there - Moon circles away.

Eikemo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Eikemo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Eikemo slips a straight right by Moon. Eikemo swinging wilding here.

Moon scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Eikemo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Moon looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Moon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Eikemo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moon is one step ahead there. Moon showing good wrestling skills to control the position. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Moon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eikemo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Eikemo defending well as Moon loads up on a big left hand. Eikemo throws a wild body kick that Moon sees coming a mile off. Eikemo wants to clinch up but Moon keeps it at a distance. Eikemo stuffs the takedown. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Moon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Moon keeps the fight on the outside. Eikemo moves out of range as Moon strikes. Moon swats away the attempt to clinch by Eikemo. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Eikemo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Moon misses with a takedown attempt - Eikemo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Eikemo gets caught flat footed, as Moon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Moon is defended easily by Eikemo. Eikemo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Moon paws at him with a jab and circles away. Eikemo feints and then cracks Moon's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Moon down. Eikemo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Moon. Moon misses with a wild body shot. Eikemo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Moon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eikemo was well out of range. Moon stalks Eikemo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Eikemo's face. Eikemo staggers backwards, shaken. Eikemo clinches but Moon breaks the clinch and Moon counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Eikemo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Moon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moon prevents Eikemo from improving his position. Eikemo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Eikemo is looking to improve his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Moon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Eikemo defends it well. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Moon in particular looking to stall. Eikemo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Moon. Olve Eikemo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Moon is trying to control. Eikemo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Joey Moon showed his dominance in that final round. Well Moon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
