Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Fenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muhammed Aushev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Fenix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Muhammed Aushev! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aushev slips a jab and a cross from Fenix.
Aushev connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fenix's hands. Fenix throws a right hand that Aushev ducks under and follows up with a left that Aushev also avoids with ease. Fenix misses with a double jab.

and Fenix counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Aushev swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fenix falls off balance throwing a combination
and Aushev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Fenix throws a series of strikes that have Aushev backpedaling.
It looks like Muhammed Aushev has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Aushev throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Aushev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fenix moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Aushev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fenix shoots for a double leg takedown but Aushev sprawls well. He's pushed Fenix's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fenix looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Fenix fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Aushev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fenix scores with a jab. A big right from Aushev misses. Fenix throws a combination that misses enabling Aushev to counter with a crisp jab. Aushev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fenix.

and Aushev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Fenix takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Fenix fails to land with a series of punches.
Fenix with a body punch. A glancing blow. Aushev looks gassed! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fenix scores with a jab to the head.
Fenix cracks Aushev with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Fenix changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fenix changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aushev tries to avoid it but Fenix manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aushev to the ground. Aushev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Fenix. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fenix misses with a combination
and Fenix takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Fenix cracks Aushev with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Fenix shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aushev as he avoids it easily. Fenix scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aushev can do anything to dispel that myth. Fenix stands up and we're back to a striking position. Marcus Fenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aushev has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Fenix will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fenix pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Fenix misses with a wild combination.
Aushev has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Fenix fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Fenix throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Aushev throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fenix counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Sloppy strikes there by Fenix. Fenix working the ground and pound but Aushev is defending the strikes. Fenix tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Fenix working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Fenix takes a little break here. Aushev wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fenix decides to stand up, so the ref orders Aushev to his feet. Fenix throws a combination that misses and Aushev counters with a two punch combo. Fenix lands a left and a right that send Aushev crashing to the mat, dazed. Fenix thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! This has been an exciting period of action! Fenix throws a series of punches but Aushev avoids them all with ease. Fenix feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Aushev sprawling to the canvas! Aushev rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Fenix finish him?!
Aushev is rocked!
That has opened up Muhammed Aushev's cut even more. Fenix throws a series of punches but Aushev moves out of range. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Fenix connects with a nice cross there... Aushev is looking wobbly and Fenix recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Aushev to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Fenix jumps onto the ropes to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Marcus Fenix!
