PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bouga May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Czeslaw Kowalsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bouga May!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Czeslaw Kowalsky!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalsky changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. May tries to avoid it but Kowalsky manages to keep hold of a leg and drag May to the ground. May escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

May closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
May stops a takedown attempt from Kowalsky.
Kowalsky jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as May walks away with a smile on his face. Kowalsky gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bouga May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Czeslaw Kowalsky.
May looks to land a body kick but Kowalsky moved away.
Kowalsky shoots in for a takedown but May shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
May looks for the body kick but Kowalsky saw that one coming.
Kowalsky rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but May moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
May looks to land a combination but Kowalsky avoids it well.
Kowalsky tries to score a power double leg takedown but May sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kowalsky somewhat.

May darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
May winds up and cracks Kowalsky with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kowalsky is trying to get back to full guard.
May drops an elbow to the side of Kowalsky's head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kowalsky pushes May off looking to stand but May dives back in and keeps control.
May controlling the action here.
Kowalsky trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but May manages to pass to mount!
May controlling the pace for now.

May's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kowalsky wants to hold on but May pushes him away.
May lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kowalsky hang on?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
May controlling from the full mount.

May is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kowalsky has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kowalsky is trying to reverse the position but instead May has taken his back - oops!
May has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kowalsky's body.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Bouga May just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

May rushes Kowalsky and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
May prevents the takedown attempt.

May gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
May slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Kowalsky working for submissions but it's allowed May to get to half guard.
Well, if May is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bouga May dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



May shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kowalsky napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kowalsky seems a little lost for a moment, as May dominates the positioning.
Kowalsky wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
May fails to land a wild elbow strike.
May tries to score with some ground and pound. Kowalsky controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

May working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

May decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kowalsky to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kowalsky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but May paws at him with a jab and circles away.

May feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
May controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kowalsky is trying to keep May in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
May stays in close to Kowalsky's body and controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kowalsky wants to stand but May is controlling the position.
Kowalsky is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kowalsky looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

May stands and steps away. Kowalsky gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

May shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. May showed some decent athleticism there.

May stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kowalsky to get to his feet.

Kowalsky doesn't succeed with the takedown

and May counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by May.
May sitting in guard here, content to control.
May wants to pass the guard but Kowalsky is keeping the position.
May not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
May trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

May trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kowalsky wants to sweep here but May controlling him for the moment.
Kowalsky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
May controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kowalsky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bouga May dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

May shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
May not doing much here.

Kowalsky wants to stand back up but May manages to pass into side control.
Kowalsky tries to improve position but can't.
May working away.

May stands up and beckons Kowalsky to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kowalsky throws a series of punches but May moves out of range.
Kowalsky gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and May counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by May.

May working some strikes from top position.
Bouga May overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
May seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
May is pushing down on Kowalsky's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kowalsky is fighting to maintain full guard but May has managed to sneak the leg through.
May controlling the action here.

May stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kowalsky to get to his feet.
Kowalsky has his takedown stuffed

and May counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kowalsky's guard now.
May stays in close to Kowalsky's body and controls the position.
May postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kowalsky wants to stand up but May is controlling him.
May sitting in guard here, content to control.

May content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
May showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Bouga May just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

May darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
May perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bouga May showed his dominance in that final round.
Well May has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
