The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane misses with a takedown attempt - McCortegan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McCortegan tries to clinch up.
Lane connects with a high kick.
McCortegan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lane avoids the body shot from McCortegan.
Patrick McCortegan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lane gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Lane has McCortegan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McCortegan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

McCortegan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

McCortegan lands with a kick to the temple. Lane shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Lane tries to clinch up but McCortegan circles away and keeps his distance.
McCortegan closes the distance looking to clinch
and Lane counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McCortegan wants to clinch

and Lane counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lane has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McCortegan using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
McCortegan is trying to maintain a safe position but Lane gets an underhook and turns McCortegan into the cage.
McCortegan is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

Lane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lane throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
McCortegan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lane tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Lane pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lane jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McCortegan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McCortegan and Lane has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Lane tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lane sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McCortegan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

McCortegan is looking for a sweep.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lane cracks McCortegan with an elbow. That is naaassty.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


McCortegan scores with a one two! Lane had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Lane shoots in for a double leg but McCortegan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
