Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ashadabad Patel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pablo Cesar! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patel chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Cesar is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cesar throws a leg kick but Patel sees it coming and moves out of range. Patel fails to land with a series of punches.
Patel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Patel misses with a two punch combination.
Cesar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Patel lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Cesar is looking to clinch but Patel is avoiding it.
Cesar tries to clinch there but Patel circles away.
Patel slaps away a takedown attempt from Cesar, before circling back to the center of the mat. Patel has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cesar has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Patel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Ashadabad Patel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Cesar. Patel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Patel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cesar moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Patel swinging wilding here.
Patel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cesar fails in his attempt to clinch. Patel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Patel is breathing heavily. Cesar keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
No luck for Cesar with that takedown attempt. Cesar stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Patel. Patel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Cesar avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Cesar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ashadabad Patel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cesar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cesar lands in his opponent's guard. Cesar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cesar is looking to stand up but Patel won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cesar throws a big right hand that misses. Cesar wants to control from the top but Patel keeps moving. Patel looking for a sweep. Not yet Patel, not yet. Patel wants to hit a switch here but Cesar passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Patel there! Cesar looking to finish Patel with some ground and pound. This is bad for Patel!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cesar avoids the attempt from Patel to control. Cesar scoring with strikes but Patel is staying in there. Patel holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cesar tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Cesar with the ground and pound from mount. Cesar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Patel tries to reverse the position but Cesar maintains control. Cesar controlling from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patel is looking to improve his position but Cesar isn't that keen on the idea. BOOM! Cesar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Cesar lands with some strikes. Cesar controlling from the full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pablo Cesar dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cesar rushes Patel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Cesar pulls Patel into guard.
Patel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cesar looking for a sweep. Not yet Cesar, not yet. Cesar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Patel manages to get himself to full guard.
Cesar wants to control from the top but Patel keeps moving. Cesar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Patel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cesar stands and throws Patel's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cesar tries for a kimura but Patel is defending well. Patel is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Patel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Cesar wants to control but Patel is keeping him busy. Patel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cesar on the ground. Cesar fails to land a wild elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Patel avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Cesar. Cesar is working Patel over with some ground and pound from side control. Cesar tries to move into full mount but can't pass Patel's legs. Cesar controlling the position from side mount. Cesar looks up at the clock and then as Patel takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cesar smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Cesar tries to advance to mount but can't. Cesar is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Patel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cesar has control of an arm but Patel manages to advance to Cesar's back! Patel has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cesar's body.
Patel is not going to allow Cesar to sit and survive in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Patel has the hooks in. Cesar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Patel throwing wild punches that miss their target. Cesar breaks Patel's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Patel has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cesar has passed into side control.
Cesar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Patel to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cesar tries to clinch up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Patel throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Patel throws a head kick but Cesar moves out of range.
Patel attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Cesar listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pablo Cesar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Patel clinches up against the cage. Cesar holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Patel wants to break the clinch but can't.
Patel has had enough of the clinch but Cesar keeps him there for the moment. Cesar manages to break the clinch.
Patel throws the kick towards the body but Cesar avoids it. Cesar tries to clinch up but Patel circles away and keeps his distance. Cesar gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cesar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Patel throws a body kick that misses. Patel misses with a few strikes there.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Cesar - that will leave a mark!
Cesar tries to clinch up but Patel circles away and keeps his distance. Cesar throws a head kick that misses. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cesar feints and then cracks Patel's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Patel down. Cesar looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Patel! Cesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Patel is squirming around, avoiding Cesar's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cesar lands a nice shot to the head. Cesar connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Cesar with the ground and pound from mount. Cesar with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Cesar is in the full mount, landing strikes. Patel is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cesar cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ashadabad Patel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cesar looking for a guillotine from mount but Patel is having none of it. Cesar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Patel is looking to escape. Patel wants to control but Cesar is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patel slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Cesar tries to stand and escape but Patel is controlling the position. Cesar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Cesar missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Patel is trying to maintain the position but Cesar is very close to passing his half guard. Cesar is just content to waste time from the top position. Patel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Cesar scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patel is trying to keep Cesar in close.
Pablo Cesar has got the better of the ground game so far. Cesar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Cesar is in close to Patel's body, working some short punches and elbows. Cesar trying to control the position from guard on top but Patel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Patel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Cesar thows a big elbow that misses. Pablo Cesar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Patel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cesar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cesar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that's the end of the fight! Pablo Cesar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Cesar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
