Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keijo Kustavilainen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Duncan! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kustavilainen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kustavilainen wants it to stay on the feet. Horrible takedown by Duncan or perhaps it was just good defense by Kustavilainen which made him look bad. Kustavilainen tries to close the distance and clinch but Duncan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kustavilainen moves into the clinch. Kustavilainen scores with a shoulder strike. Kustavilainen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Duncan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kustavilainen clinches but Duncan breaks the clinch and Duncan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kustavilainen looks like he's trying to stand up.
It looks like Duncan is going to stand back up.
Duncan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kustavilainen looking for submissions off his back. Duncan is working for a submission of some sort.
Kustavilainen is trying to stand up here but Duncan is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kustavilainen looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Duncan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kustavilainen as he jumps to the side. Keijo Kustavilainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Duncan. Duncan shoots for a takedown but Kustavilainen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Duncan looks gassed! A swing and a miss from Kustavilainen. Keijo Kustavilainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kustavilainen tries to clinch up but Duncan circles away and keeps his distance. Kustavilainen tries to clinch but Duncan moves away and Duncan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kustavilainen! Kustavilainen is trying desperately to improve position. Kustavilainen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Kustavilainen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kustavilainen tries to kick Duncan off in order to stand up. Duncan Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Duncan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Duncan wants to control but Kustavilainen is keeping him busy. Kustavilainen manages to work his way to half guard, despite Duncan's best efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kustavilainen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Kustavilainen keeping moving, preventing Duncan from controlling successfully. Kustavilainen is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Duncan rolls with it to try and escape but Kustavilainen cranks on the arm and Duncan is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
