PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Krakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Krakov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krakov connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Krakov throws a right and a left that Drago avoids nicely.
Krakov dives in and grabs Drago's left leg, looking for a takedown. Drago pushes down on Krakov's head and hops out.

Krakov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Krakov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krakov trying to control but Drago is having none of it.
Drago regains half guard.

Krakov escapes and gets back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Krakov or perhaps it was just good defense by Drago which made him look bad.

Drago darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Drago is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Krakov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Drago wants to control but Krakov is keeping him busy.
Drago slows the pace down in half guard.

Krakov actively working from the bottom here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Drago is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Drago looks gassed!
Krakov wants to improve his position but Drago is controlling well.
Krakov gets back to full guard.

Drago gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Drago counters with a series of strikes. Krakov will be more careful next time no doubt.

Krakov tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Drago counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Krakov!

Drago connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Drago trying to control but Krakov is having none of it.

Drago is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Krakov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krakov is working hard here to advance position.
Drago looking to control and managing it successfully.
Drago pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Drago is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Drago dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Krakov has his takedown stuffed

and Drago counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Krakov!
Krakov is desperately trying to improve his position but Drago has a good base and remains in mount.
Drago wants to control the pace but Krakov is squirming around nicely.
Drago controlling his opponent.
Krakov tries to control Drago's body but Drago pushes him off. Krakov squirms to his side and now Drago has his back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Drago is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Drago lands a shot to the body.
The referee is taking a good look at Krakov as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Drago!

Drago working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Krakov manages to reverse the position and now he's in Drago's guard. Nice work there by Krakov.
Ivan Drago has got the better of the ground game so far.

Krakov stands and throws Drago's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Drago tries to escape but Krakov is in control.

Drago is trying to work for a sweep but Krakov has mounted him!

Krakov tries to control but Drago wriggling away.
Krakov is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Drago can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Krakov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Drago is looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drago can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Drago tries to hold on but Krakov pushes him away.
Drago is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Drago is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Krakov manages to capitalize on a mistake by Drago to take his back!
The referee is taking a good look at Drago as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Krakov!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Krakov. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Drago showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Drago takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Krakov is trying to control but can't.
Krakov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Krakov is pressing down on Drago's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Krakov keeping moving, preventing Drago from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Krakov moves into range and clinches up with Drago.

Drago jumps guard but Krakov stands there with Drago around his waist. Drago gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Krakov manages to pull guard.
Drago wants to pass the guard but Krakov is keeping the position.
Drago with a flurry of punches that miss.
Krakov manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Drago is squirming around, avoiding Krakov's attempts to control the action.

Drago can't escape the position.
Drago tries to hold on but Krakov pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Drago wants to control but Krakov is having none of it.
Krakov fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Drago is desperately trying to improve his position but Krakov has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Drago wants to hold on but Krakov pushes him away.
Igor Krakov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ivan Drago is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Igor Krakov showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Drago has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
