Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Conway! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gedo Sake! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sake fails to land with a series of punches.
Conway misses with a few strikes there.
Conway moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Sake goes down! Can Conway finish him!?
Sake is rocked!
It looks like Gedo Sake has been cut. Sake looking to control.
Sake is still in real trouble! Can Conway finish him? Conway stopping the sweep attempt from Sake. Sake seems to have recovered his senses. Sake is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sake looking for a sweep. Not yet Sake, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sake looking for a guillotine here but Conway defends easily.
Sake is trying to control the position but Conway postures up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Conway misses with a combination
and Sake counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sake. Conway is trying to force a seperation but Sake has the dominant position. Sake goes for a takedown in the clinch but Conway prevents it.
Sake is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Conway gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Conway wants to get back to striking at distance but Sake won't allow it.
Conway wants to break free but Sake has control.
Conway is trying to break the clinch but Sake has him pressed against the cage. Sake prevents Conway from breaking the clinch. Sake's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Conway misses the shot to the body. James Conway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conway connects with a nice cross there... Sake is looking wobbly and Conway recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Sake to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Conway jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). James Conway!
