Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Justin Spencer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trey Wilson! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Spencer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wilson drives through with a takedown into guard. Wilson won't allow Spencer to sweep him here. Spencer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Wilson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wilson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Spencer trying to control the position.
Spencer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wilson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spencer swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Wilson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Spencer tries a head kick but it misses.
Justin Spencer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A head kick misses from Spencer. Spencer drops Wilson with a left right combo! Spencer follows him down to the ground into side control.
Wilson is rocked! Spencer works to advance to full mount. Wilson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Wilson is still in real trouble! Can Spencer finish him? Spencer is breathing heavily. Spencer wants to control the pace but Wilson is squirming around nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer prevents Wilson from getting the reversal. Wilson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wilson seems to have recovered his senses. Spencer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wilson is working to get back to half guard.
Wilson regains half guard. Wilson gets full guard. Wilson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Spencer has passed into half guard!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Wilson looking for submissions off his back. Spencer is keen to just control but Wilson is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Wilson looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Spencer is defending well. Wilson quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Spencer has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Wilson celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
