PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between JanOle Stafjard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kang Min (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kang Min was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JanOle Stafjard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kang Min!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Min tries a head kick but it misses.
Min looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Min throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stafjard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stafjard is working for a submission of some sort.

Stafjard is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Min sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stafjard trying to control the action but Min is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stafjard is looking for a kimura but Min is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stafjard to get the leverage.
Min wants to get back to his feet.
Min is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Min looks gassed!

Stafjard is working for a kimura but Min is defending it quite comfortably.

Stafjard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Stafjard is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Min is just riding it out for now. Stafjard eventually gives up the hold.
Stafjard tries to pass the half guard into mount. Min knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stafjard wants to take a breather but Min is having none of it.
Stafjard keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Min is defending against the submission attempts here by Stafjard.

Stafjard is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Min doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stafjard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stafjard trying to control from half guard but Min is working away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stafjard is working for a kimura but Min is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JanOle Stafjard dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Min lands a nice looking body shot.
Stafjard misses with a takedown attempt - Min sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Min ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stafjard moves away.
Min lands a jab to Stafjard's midsection.
Min lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stafjard circles away quickly and effectively.

Stafjard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Stafjard is looking for a kimura here.

Stafjard is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Min tries to get to full guard but Stafjard has control of the leg.

Stafjard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Min is looking for a sweep. Stafjard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stafjard passes to side control.
Stafjard wants to control but Min is keeping him busy.

Stafjard is trying to get an arm triangle but Min is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Min's face as Stafjard controls the position.

Stafjard has an Americana. Min didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Stafjard is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Stafjard hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
