PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seth Petruzelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jowell Randy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Petruzelli might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to DANCER. Jowell Randy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seth Petruzelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jowell Randy!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petruzelli slips under a jab from Randy.
Petruzelli avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Randy shoots in for a double leg but Petruzelli sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Petruzelli throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Randy.


It looks like Jowell Randy has been cut.

Petruzelli shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Randy is trying to defend but Petruzelli finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Petruzelli blocks the strikes from Randy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Petruzelli is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Petruzelli wants to control but Randy is keeping him busy.

Petruzelli throws an elbow but Randy slips to the side and avoids it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Petruzelli goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Petruzelli closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Randy did well to prevent Petruzelli getting side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Petruzelli shoots in and bounces Randy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Randy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Petruzelli defends well.

Petruzelli got a little sloppy there for a moment and Randy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Petruzelli has managed to get both his arms back between Randy's legs - danger averted.
Petruzelli has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Randy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Petruzelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Randy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Randy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Petruzelli is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Randy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Petruzelli's back instead.
Randy is looking to control Petruzelli but Petruzelli is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Randy looking to hold on to the position here but Petruzelli rolls and ends up regaining guard.
Petruzelli wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Randy is now in half guard.
Petruzelli on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Petruzelli tries to get out of the position.

Randy is looking for a sweep. Petruzelli is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
