PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jens Didriksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly has chosen Five Finger Death Punch -The Way of the Fist as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jens Didriksen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kris Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Didriksen throws a series of punches but Kelly avoids them all with ease.
Didriksen swats away the attempt to clinch by Kelly.
Kelly shoots in for a takedown but Didriksen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kelly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Didriksen's waist but Didriksen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kelly off to one side.
Didriksen doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kelly counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kelly missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Didriksen controls Kelly momentarily but Kelly frees himself.

Didriksen working for a triangle but Kelly defends it easily.

Kelly is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Didriksen keeping moving, preventing Kelly from controlling successfully.
Didriksen striking off his back but it's not causing Kelly any problems.
Kelly not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kelly must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kelly wants to clinch.
Didriksen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Didriksen is looking to clinch but Kelly is avoiding it.
Kelly throws a head kick but Didriksen moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Didriksen moves into the clinch.

Didriksen jumps into guard, dragging Kelly to the mat.
Kelly with a nice head shot there.
Didriksen trying to control the position.
Didriksen wants to sweep but no luck.
Kelly wanted to stand there but Didriksen had control of the position.

Didriksen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kelly is aware though and is defending well.
Kelly stopping the sweep attempt from Didriksen.
Kelly trying to stand up but can't free himself from Didriksen's guard.
Kelly is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Didriksen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kelly counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kelly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Didriksen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Didriksen is breathing heavily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kelly's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kelly is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kelly gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Didriksen blocks a head kick by Kelly.

Kelly shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Didriksen is trying to defend but Kelly finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Didriksen is trying to stand.

Kelly not doing much here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kelly lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kelly keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelly drops an elbow to the side of Didriksen's head.
Kelly seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Didriksen is trying to control but can't.
Kelly winds up and cracks Didriksen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kelly wants to clinch up but Didriksen keeps it at a distance.

Kelly is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Didriksen's half guard.
Kelly is looking to take a break and control but Didriksen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Didriksen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kelly is keen to just control but Didriksen is a slippery customer.

Didriksen wants to control but Kelly is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kelly wants to clinch up but Didriksen keeps it at a distance.

Kelly tries to stand but can't do so whilst Didriksen controls his leg.
Kelly lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Didriksen wants to control but Kelly is keeping busy.
Kelly landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kelly tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kelly lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kelly lands a nice short elbow.

Kelly postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Didriksen to stand up.

Kelly throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Didriksen was covering up waiting for the punch and Kelly finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kelly is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Didriksen controls Kelly momentarily but Kelly frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kelly wants to stand but Didriksen is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kelly slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Didriksen trying to keep a closed guard but Kelly is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kris Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kelly throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Didriksen keeps the fight on the outside.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kelly tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Didriksen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jens Didriksen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kelly shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kelly showed some decent athleticism there.
Kelly is just content to waste time from the top position. Didriksen takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Didriksen trying to keep a closed guard but Kelly is proving a slippery customer.
Kelly seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Didriksen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Kelly wants to control from the top but Didriksen keeps moving.
Kelly wants to stand but Didriksen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Didriksen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kelly is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Didriksen lands a head kick. Kelly smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kelly fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kelly chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kelly misses with a combination
and Didriksen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kelly.
Didriksen tries to buck Kelly off but Kelly is having none of it.
Didriksen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kelly cracks Didriksen with a big elbow.
Didriksen is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kelly connects with a decent elbow.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kelly lands an elbow.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Didriksen takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kelly in side control, just content to control the action for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kris Kelly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kelly winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
