Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Summers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Markus Filch! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Filch's waist but Filch gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Summers off to one side. Filch misses the shot to the body. Summers tries to clinch up but Filch circles away and keeps his distance. Summers fails with an attempt to clinch.
Summers fails in his attempt to clinch. Filch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Summers to score an easy takedown into full guard. Summers stopping the sweep attempt from Filch. Filch is looking to stand up but Summers isn't so interested in that idea. Filch tries to land a sweep but no joy. Filch keeping full guard, as Summers tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Summers passes easily into side control. Nice work. Summers trying to control the action but Filch is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Summers tries to clinch up. Filch keeps the fight on the outside. Some wild striking there from Filch.
Filch takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Filch misses the shot to the body. Filch slips a straight right by Summers. Filch avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Summers moves away from the strike by Filch. Summers wants to clinch up but Filch keeps it at a distance. Summers rushes Filch and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Summers using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Filch has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Summers tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Filch avoids it. Summers with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Summers landing knees to the body.
Filch looks gassed! Filch drags the fight down to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Filch can do anything to dispel that myth. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Filch is on top in guard.
Summers looking for a sweep. Not yet Summers, not yet. Filch working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Filch stopping the sweep attempt from Summers. Summers is working hard here to advance position. Summers is adopting a defensive guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Filch throws and elbow that misses. Summers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Filch's guard. Nice move by Summers! Summers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Filch is keeping the position for now. Filch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Summers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Filch, pushing him back against the cage. Summers lands a good knee to the midsection. Filch won't want to take too many of those. Summers utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Summers lands a knee to the body.
Summers pulls guard successfully.
Filch looking to pass the guard. Summers seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Summers keeping moving, preventing Filch from controlling successfully. Summers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Filch's guard. Filch keeping moving, preventing Summers from controlling successfully. Summers advances to half guard. Summers in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Filch tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Summers!
