Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Ferrara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vornado Vilmaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonny Ferrara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vornado Vilmaro! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferrara swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A head kick misses from Vilmaro. Ferrara stuffs the takedown. Vilmaro looks for a takedown but Ferrara sprawls well. Ferrara walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Vilmaro checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Ferrara scores with a one two! Vilmaro had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Vornado Vilmaro has been cut. Ferrara tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Vilmaro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jonny Ferrara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vornado Vilmaro. Ferrara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ferrara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ferrara shoots in but Vilmaro avoids the takedown attempt easily. A cross from Ferrara lands. Vilmaro blocks a head kick by Ferrara.
Ferrara throws a nice looking combination but Vilmaro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferrara misses with a body shot.
Ferrara misses with a takedown and Vilmaro counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ferrara keeping full guard, as Vilmaro tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ferrara managing to control the position. Vilmaro postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ferrara is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vilmaro, into his guard. Vilmaro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferrara passes Vilmaro's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ferrara knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vilmaro on the ground. Ferrara seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Vilmaro actively working from the bottom here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ferrara connects with a nice short shot to Vilmaro's temple. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ferrara throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ferrara trying to control from half guard but Vilmaro is working away. Vilmaro looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Vilmaro looks gassed! Ferrara lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ground and pound from Ferrara. Ferrara drops an elbow to the side of Vilmaro's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vilmaro is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ferrara is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vilmaro defends it well. Vilmaro blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ferrara. Vilmaro looking for submissions off his back. Ferrara could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Vilmaro looking for submissions from an awkward position here. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ferrara winds up and cracks Vilmaro with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Ferrara is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Vilmaro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ferrara pulls his head out easily. Vilmaro actively working from the bottom here. Ferrara wants to free his trapped foot but Vilmaro is holding on for dear life with his legs. Vilmaro is looking to control Ferrara's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vilmaro avoid being mounted? The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ferrara throws a strike but Vilmaro avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Ferrara trying to control the position from guard on top but Vilmaro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonny Ferrara dominated that round. The cut man is working on Vornado Vilmaro's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Vilmaro doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ferrara counters with a left to the body. Ferrara misses with a body kick. Nice takedown defense from Ferrara. No joy for Vilmaro on that attempt. Ferrara leaves Vilmaro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jonny Ferrara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vornado Vilmaro. Ferrara rushes Vilmaro and presses him up against the cage. Ferrara drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vilmaro is trying to drag Ferrara to the mat but Ferrara just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferrara gets control of Vilmaro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ferrara will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ferrara managing to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vilmaro throws and elbow that misses. Ferrara uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vilmaro's guard. Nice move by Ferrara! Ferrara got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vilmaro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ferrara has managed to get both his arms back between Vilmaro's legs - danger averted. Vilmaro throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Vilmaro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ferrara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ferrara working some strikes from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vilmaro had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ferrara is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Vilmaro Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ferrara's back instead. Ferrara turns into Vilmaro and is now in his guard.
Vilmaro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ferrara can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vilmaro is looking for a triangle but Ferrara pushes his legs off easily.
Ferrara is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Vilmaro looking for a guillotine here but Ferrara defends easily.
Vilmaro has his foot on Ferrara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ferrara works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ferrara is working Vilmaro over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Vilmaro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ferrara seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Vilmaro is trying to control the position but Ferrara postures up. Ferrara won't allow Vilmaro to get back to his feet. Vilmaro has his foot on Ferrara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ferrara works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vilmaro has momentary wrist control but Ferrara slips an elbow through the middle. Vilmaro working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Ferrara has passed into half guard!
Ferrara takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Vilmaro on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ferrara blocks the strikes from Vilmaro.

Vornado Vilmaro has got the better of the ground game so far. Vilmaro throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ferrara postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Vilmaro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Vornado Vilmaro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Vornado Vilmaro's cut. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vilmaro. Ferrara with a lazy takedown attempt and Vilmaro counters with a shoot takedown. Ferrara fights it but they end up in guard. Vilmaro thows a big elbow that misses. Ferrara working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vilmaro. Vilmaro trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferrara is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ferrara tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vilmaro with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vilmaro works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ferrara is defending against the submission attempts here by Vilmaro.
Vilmaro is thwarting Ferrara's attempts to control the position. Vilmaro seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ferrara is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
