The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bagcal shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Slappa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Bagcal postures up in Slappa's guard and throws a big left but Slappa blocks it. Bagcal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Slappa works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Slappa not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bagcal stands up from guard. Let's bang! Bagcal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bagcal closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Slappa did well to prevent Bagcal getting side control. Slappa wants to control but Bagcal is keeping busy.

Slappa tries for a takedown but Bagcal circles away easily and Bagcal counters with a slapping leg kick. Bagcal shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Bagcal with good strikes from the mount here! Bagcal lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Slappa hang on? Bagcal unloading with bombs! Bagcal is working for a guillotine from mount but Slappa frees his head quite easily.
Bagcal avoids the attempt from Slappa to control. The referee warns Slappa that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Slappa tries to hold on but Bagcal postures up. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bagcal scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Slappa?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bagcal working the ground and pound effectively.

Slappa manages to regain half guard. Good work. Nice strikes from Bagcal there. Bagcal throwing shots but Slappa is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Slappa is pressing down on Bagcal's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Slappa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bagcal is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Slappa. Slappa is looking to regain half guard here but Bagcal keeps moving and retains side control. Bagcal decides to take the fight back to the feet. Bagcal changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slappa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bagcal connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Slappa some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slappa dodges the ground and pound from Bagcal. Slappa bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slappa scores a takedown into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bagcal trying desperately to get to his feet.
Slappa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Slappa trying to control but Bagcal is having none of it. Bagcal tries to lock up and control but Slappa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Bagcal tries to reverse the position but Slappa maintains control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Slappa blocks Bagcal's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Slappa trying to control but Bagcal is having none of it. Bagcal is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagcal wants to control but Slappa is having none of it. Bagcal tries to improve his position but instead Slappa has taken his back! Slappa has got one arm under Bagcal's chin. This could be trouble... Bagcal trying to control the other hand but Slappa gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Bagcal has tapped out! The fight is over!
