Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spencer Fisher JR! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fisher JR shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sanchez as he jumps to the side. Fisher JR shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Sanchez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The strikes coming from Sanchez are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Fisher JR gets back to half guard. Fisher JR wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.
Fisher JR is pressing down on Sanchez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Fisher JR escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanchez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sanchez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanchez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Sanchez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fisher JR's head. Fisher JR wants to sweep but no luck. Fisher JR is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sanchez controls from within his opponent's guard. Sanchez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Fisher JR keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Fisher JR can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sanchez controls the pace. Sanchez with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sanchez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fisher JR looking for a guillotine here but Sanchez defends easily.
Fisher JR is breathing heavily. Fisher JR is looking for a triangle but Sanchez pushes his legs off easily.
Sanchez looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Sanchez chips away with some ground and pound. Sanchez trying to control but Fisher JR is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez lands a couple of elbows. Sanchez advances position into side control! Sanchez working the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez decides to take the fight back to the feet. Fisher JR misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sanchez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Sanchez trying to pass the guard but Fisher JR defending well. Sanchez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Fisher JR defend it? Sanchez steps over the head and cranks it - Fisher JR is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sanchez!
